    The last couple of weeks I have been working with a little help from DavidJotta and Xfel on a new chunk loader system based on better chunk loading. It is designed to make chunk loading more fair and server friendly. Cheap during early game and expensive towards the end, well it depends on how you play.

    A few key features:
    • mod unrelated (works on every bukkit+forge server)
    • two types, online and offline loaders
    • upkeep cost per minute
    • dynamic cost related on living entities (animals, monsters..) and ticking tile entities (machines, conduits..)
    • accounts synced across all servers
    • cheap, iron/gold block is all you need
    • easy to use, simple chest gui
    • redstone support

    During the testing period you can get tickets (the currency for the upkeep) at the spawn, a sign which you can use every 3 hours for more. Later it will be available with voting, to give advanced players (who have enough claimblocks and MyM's) a reason to vote.

    It is not complete, there are some things missing, but the core is done.

    Will there be a block needed for the tickets to be used or a counter of some sort to be able to choose which chunks you want to load?

    that is the plan
    You place an iron/gold block and rightclick it, which opens up a gui where you can choose the size. Kinda like chicken chunks.

    a limit is built in. during testing it is set to unlimited for online loaders and limited to 3 offline loader chunks. How it will be, I don't know yet. It might change or may not.

    Haven't tested it yet, will do when I get home from work and will post here, how do you choose between online and offline? Also do the tickets run down while it's 'running' (per tick or another time scale) or is it a one time cost

    iron block = online
    gold block = offline (same price as iron while you are online)
    it is per 1200 ticks

    After the testing phase we will add it to all servers.
    What exactly do you mean? Entities are monsters, animals, items on the ground... and tile entities are machines, chests, botania flowers...

    Are you planning to add a timer so that people know how much longer it has left?

    Maybe in this menu:

    You can have more than one and you can turn them off and on with redstone signals (great in combination with player detector's). It is also depended on the servers tps. I think calculating it for your self is better.

    So currently gold has a limit of 3 chunk loaders at a time. Where as iron doenst have a limit?

    9x9 chunk (iron chunk loader) = 405 tickets per 1200 ticks (60 seconds)

    What is stopping me from having 9 iron chunk loaders?

    1x1 chunk (iron chunk loader) = 5 tickets per 1200 ticks (60 seconds)

    - Would online chunk loading be more expensive than offline?

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

    My second point is that you get 10,000 tickets every 3 hours. If I make a 9x9 chunk loader that = 405 tickets per minute.

    3h = 180m = 405t * 180 = 72,900 tickets.

    Whereas --

    Using 9 chunk loaders instead of 1 is highly more efficient.

    9 * 5 = 45 tickets per minute * 180m = 8100 with a profit of 1900 tickets left over in the time period.

    So choosing the second option is 160% more efficient than option one.

    This is just my thoughts on the current set up as im aware it is still in testing.

    online chunk loader only works while you are online
    offline chunk loaders works when you are offline, but during the time you are offline the upkeep goes up by 3 times

    it's 100,000 tickets. calculated for ~10 permanent online loader
    9x9 = 81 chunks
    9x1 = 9 chunks
    72,900 * 100 / 8100 = 900 %

    ugh, time for bed?
