To our staff we had been recommending greenshot for quite some time, well since I know of ShareX I recommend it instead. As ShareX requires a few config changes until it reaches a productive state (in my opinion) here a quick guide on what I changed and why: 1. Default action after captureChange the "After capture tasks" config to the most used scenario. In my case it is upload and copy to clipboard 2. Hotkey settingsChange the "Hotkey settings..." to a single key for the "Capture rectangle region" (selection tool) as in 98% of the cases I only want/need a specific region. 4. Enable the "post capture tasks" dialog.Instead of instantly executing the "After capture tasks" it will show a small window with the options. This prevents the upload/save of unintended/wrong sized screenshots and allows to choose other options e.g. open editor, perform custom action.. 5. Increase QualityAgain under Task settings then Image I change the dropdown to the higher quality settings. This avoids blurry fonts and color loss. 6. Setting up the Image HostI want to be able to access the screenshots from anywhere and be able to delete old images to which I don't have the anonym delete key anymore. So I follow the instructions given of my preferred image host and make sure to switch from Anonymous to User. 7. https:// linksPosting links from sites without ssl (https) on sites with causes browsers to show warnings about unsafe content. Those warnings are nothing I'm concerned about as they are super common. But with google pushing forward to a encrypted only internet its browser and others might decide to not load this content (from un-encrypted sites on encrypted sites) pretty soon. So in order to avoid ending up with tons of broken images, why not use https by default. @Greenshot users, the editor ShareX is using, is familiar as it is the Greenshot editor. @all the big advantage of ShareX are the additional features like the quick screen recording as either gif or mpeg with instant upload and many small improvements compared to greenshot.
