Valid XP Level System by Playtime

    Suggestion Title:
    XP Level System by Playtime
    Short Description:
    At a specific level you unlock perks like the tier ranks currently have. To level up you have to earn virtual XP (not the minecraft XP) to earn XP you have to gather playtime.
    You can purchase XP boosters which will give all players on the server you are on more XP.
    This should be per server and not network wide.

    So you are talking about players that are currently on the server? You buy a booster, use it and everyone online gets a boost?

    Strange idea, but I kinda like it :D

    Yes, a lot of mini game servers offer boosters like that.

    It would be the playtime you have on that specific server or maybe modpack.
    For example you are level 5 on Beyond and unlocked the home command, if you then switch to Infinity you will need to level up and earn that perk on that server too.


    It would be also possible that you earn XP by breaking/placing blocks but this can be abused to easily with mods.

    You would have to give the boost to everyone playing on that server, not just online, but everyone who ever has been on the server for even a minute. And probably even for the ones entering in the future. Eventually everyone ends up with /god.

    I am not sure how the XP that you can earn both via playtime and money is different from a soft currency.

    If the boosts were timed, I think it would probably still be acceptable under the EULA.

    An ideá that I just had would be to also introduce something that slowly drains your XP when you play less. Not sure whether that works with the EULA. That encourages activity and also prevents some kind of inflation.

    Xp Could be limited per day (Gotta get that daily limit yo) As well as achievements rewarding large amounts of XP

    I could also see the perks being only for that server and not network wide. at least some of them. the basic ones like /workbench could be server wide.

    I did suggest something like this on the suggestion submissions. (Achievement based perks)

    Adding onto this for perks:

    • Could add hats
    • Could add Particle Effects (Like Wings or Spirals)
    • Could add a fancy death animation
    • Fancy join animation
    • Arrow particle trails

    These could actually all be purchased, since they're entirely cosmetic, although I'm not sure how possible some of the animations and advanced particles are without requiring a specialist mod.

    I like this idea quite a lot, but remove god from being usable, it's ruins the fun of the game no matter what way you look at it.

    Server plugins support model animation? I thought that was all done in the clientside?

    The idea of playtime based perks like this is interesting to me, but I for one like the idea of atleast some network wide perks, maybe you could gain an xp boost on other servers based on your highest level character on other servers.

    How would that work? I can't think of dailies that would work no matter how far a player has progressed.

    If we had a cap on how much experience a player can earn per day they in effect become dailies. I'm not sure if we could set NPCs at spawn to exchange items for "xp" or we could bring the theme a little further.
