Here is the view of my early game wheat farm from the starting island, it sits about 48 blocks away because once I'm rolling in wheat, I'll convert it easily into a passive mob farm and have plenty of room for more farms on either side of the walkway. This farm produces about 2.5 stacks of wheat which if put into any crafting grid (just a single wheat) gives you wheat flour which can be smelted on it's own for cheap bread, and smelted again for really effective toast! Over half hunger bar filled, and nearly full saturation! You can combine 2 toast to make a toast sandwich, but it's not much better and honestly a waste of wheat.
