Ok, I’m not exactly a newb when it comes to how MYM sets up it’s Minecraft servers and dimensions. But I am having some trouble getting to the Nether on the PO2 Normal server. I have built the portal exactly how I would normally on a MYM server – set up the portal, place a sigh with ‘portal’ on it, and powered it with a redstone signal (button in my case). And it gives me the choice of which dimension to go to (some need unlocked), but every time I hit that button to enter the Nether, I get the message: Error, portal blocked. What could I be doing wrong? Do I need to go elsewhere first in this mudpack? Does the great big cube island available for Tier 3 donors already have an active portal to the Nether buried somewhere inside it? (although this doesn’t make sense, as my AS2 island has an active Nether portal and another portal to send me everywhere else) Any ideas as to how to do this? I have already set up 2 portals in the correct fashion, on different Y levels, but so far, they all end with the same error.
Is the sign under any of the middle two obsidian? If there is -nothing- wrong with the portal that you can see, there is likely an invisible tile-entity inside the portal frame. Place dirt/sand/any-easily-broken-blocks inside the frame, and remove them, then try opening the portal again.
AHA! That seems to have been the problem. The last time I made a portal it worked to place a sign under any of the obsidian of the portal. And I had it under the left side, to the left of the left-most middle block. And the message did say that the portal design was valid. I need to go back to my AS2 island and see if I had it set up that way there.
