I set up a metal press multiblock structure, right clicked it with my engineering hammer, then added a gear press to craft a ferrous gear but no matter how many ingots I put in (only 4 required), it still doesn't work. I have also tried to make a metal plate and that won't work either. The ingots don't move on the belt. Side note: Playing on the Kappa node.
Indeed I did. It appears that there is an error with the server now as it crashed and I get an error when connecting.
the metal press appears to at times need a certain level of its internal power buffer to be full before it will do anything. try using a IE voltmeter or multimeter from another mod to check how much power it is getting and has stored. if it stays at full power, the metal press works everytime for me, even when tps is fluctuating.[DOUBLEPOST=1482885271][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm stuck with a "permissions" error message now and cannot connect either.
I actually was having issues with mine the other day while trying to make copper gears. I didnt even figure out what went wrong, but i thought it was because of the power thing. i even took the multiblock down and reformed it. that seemed to work fine.
throwing/inventorydrop is how i was doing it when i was having issues. i could have just as easily set up something to put them and collect them but didnt yet.
I was dropping the items manually. Maybe when the server is fixed I'll try hoppers connected to the conveyor belts.
definitely try something that will do it for you. almost every time I've used the metal press by manually dropping ingots and manually picking up things, at least something seemed odd even when it worked smoothly.

If you are trying to throw the item directly on the conveyor part on the press it wont work. Try placing another conveyor belt besides de one of the press
