Me, and a lot of other people have noticed that staff are very inconsistent when it comes to applying rules to things. For instance, for this is the most recent thing I have noticed, someone said "damn" in the support section of discord. When I reported someone for saying this in the forums, it was changed to a less harsh word. When I told the staff about it in discord, nothing was changed, and I was told that swearing is based on the staff there. This isn't a fair system when someone got in trouble for it, yet this person did it in the face of staff and nothing was said.

Thought someone took care of this already. I deleted it.

I will think of a way to filter chat on discord so this doesn't happen again.

Because will then start swearing, and then letting the bot replace the word for them. Then using the replacement words to insinuate swearing. Like changing the F-word to Lollipop. "Lollipop you, whateverinsultcomesafterthis"

Oh I played on a server that did that ingame once, it was hilarious. For instance they changed “lag” to “bunnies” so you would see people saying “I hate bunnies” everytime the server started lagging :p

But people still said it, and people knew what they were saying. Plus people will be stupid and try to bypass it anyways

I agree it is not a perfect solution, but I feel like it would be less likely for people to bypass the filter if it replaces words like that with something funny, also I know from experience, it is a lot easier to keep your cool if somebody calls you a “raspberry head” then the alternative. ;)
True there is the point that there is no deterrent to swearing that way, but there still would be if somebody bypasses the filter, and this way it’s more fun for everybody else too. :cat:

Would letting the chat filter filter swearing make it allowed to swear if its filtered then?
Because I'm sure a lot of people would swear, let it get filtered, and say its okay because it's filtered.

Filter or no Filter, swearing (and by extension; anything intended as an insult, slur or any other attempt to belittle, berate, insult or slander ) is not allowed or tolerated on the MYM Community. Each Staff member DOES have the discretion to enforce the exact degree depending on their interpretation of the situation/setting, but what any Staff member says at that time is what is to be adhered to, even if it is more strict than the existing filters.

I, for example, do not tolerate any 'joking' about serious matters such as criminal actions, terminal disease or mental illness. It is not explicitly prohibited by the rules as written, but it IS against the rules as expressed by the Staff member on the scene. (being ME, in this example). Our Staff Team is allowed to, and encouraged, to use their discretion when enforcing the spirit of the Rules.

But this is why we also have oversight on all out Staff, and their actions, so that if errors in judgement are made, such as a 'too strict' punishment being given, our Admin Team can review the situation, make any corrections needed and educate the Players and Staff members involved if and as needed.

End of the day, it should be a matter of that all to rare, endangered beast once known as: COMMON SENSE!

Don't Swear or use any type or form of profanity.
    Don't insult each other.

Shouldn't be that hard, we are all here to play a GAME after all.

Just my thoughts on the matter, as well as the following question. Can't we all just get along?

Good Gaming and Have a Great Day!
