Oh hi, it's been a while. Anyway, for some reason, a lot of players can't seem able to register an account because of the captcha. Might be a good thing actually. Those who can't it's simply because they don't read the description, or they find it too confusing. The error when they get the captcha wrong also doesn't help much. So with that in mind, here's my suggestion. Change the description to: Join any MyM server and run the command /forumtag to get your captcha. Or alternatively (including if you're banned) join the server auth.mym.li to grab it. Works on versions 1.4.7 to 1.12.2. Hopefully this should make creating an account easier.
At least half the people I have helped didn't even notice the text there.Perhaps light grey text on white isn't the best choice? It looks good overall as a page, but I think that text needs to be made more visible. The red text alone doesnt seem to be enough to draw their attention to it.
Not sure what more we can do. I don't think making the wording different is going to change anything. We can't help people who do not read.
It might help, the way it is written now does not sound as if it was produced by a native English speaker. I'm not sure how mangled that would come out through google translate, but @Mouro 's description seems much more intuitive.
I know, and that says a lot about the value of your education, versus that of the American educational system.
what if there was a tick box that was required that said something like (I have read the instructions) I myself, generally graze over things but anything with a tickbox I make sure I read (So I know if I should tick the box, imagine that!)
This is a really good idea. We added the hidden word on ban appeals for this very reason, but a check box might get just clicked without reading it. Possibly a hidden word system too? Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk
The problem with a hidden word is that there are a lot of non-native English/German speakers that use MyM, for those it could be difficult to discover the hidden word. Obviously other translations could be made as well, but a check mark box is more of a universal solution if we are thinking language wise in my opinion. Being able to make a forums account is rather important for quite a few people so making sure the signing up process is not too complicated is definately more favourable, just my two cents though
Is there a way to make it so if the captcha is empty show a message, and if the captcha is filled but it's wrong show another message?
