Implemented Why are the mega rubber tree saplings banned?

They make a big tree yes but they didn't seem to do any harm, it was the sacred rubber tree saplings that made the giant server lagging monster trees, i was wondering if we could have the megas back?

 

I believe that both the mega and the sacred were banned due to the large size of the tree.

 

mega rubber tree is not much bigger than the giant redwoods you find in world, i'm writing this off as just another misinformed item ban.

maybe its a 1.6.4 issue like the titans from flans that we got to watch out for.

The mega tree saplings are banned due to the size of the tree and because when chopped can cause a huge amount of lag due to the amount of drops and leaves decaying

 

that is a weak reason to ban something, then again titans are banned cause of a reason from 1.6.4 so logic here seems right out the window at this point.

 

How is it a weak reason to ban an item when the reason is to prevent the tree causing the tps to drop by more than half ? If this was unbanned the servers would probably end up running at about 6tps permanently

 

Every item banned has a reason. If you read /banneditems it gives the reason in most cases. Now we may not LIKE the item being banned, and I know I'm working on fixing the issues with some items so they can be unbanned, but to simply resort to your negative attitude is rude and ungrateful. The staff here spends an obscene amount of their time (for free) to provide a reduced lag, fun filled place to play. In the future please keep that in mind and play on.

interestingly enough, the mega rubber saps/trees have not been banned until now as they really haven't been/caused an issue up to this point. modsauce is fairly low-flow. redwoods are potentially more "dangerous" as they drop roots, and then there are sacred oaks, twilight oaks, etc... for the most part, mostly useless trees. the rubber isn't useless though. wanna prevent "constant lag"? dont let the mfr planter plant them. its been done before. the "6 fps" isn't a constant anyways. definately sacred mega rubber ban but the regular one? no.

 

I wouldn't worry about it now anyway, it only takes a day or so to get an issue resolved on modsauce anyway and its mostly slind that fixes them (thanks slind ), likely take a week to get some griefers work undone there these days.

Hmm, I think Mega, super, and redwood saps should be disabled to Donor only or staff only. That way only a few people can use them, not the whole of the server.
