What color is this dress?

When i saw this article on yahoo, i saw White/Gold. there was no blue hue at all, in my mind. it was "Duh, it's white/gold" ... clicked to see the article, picture at top of page, once again, was white/gold. I read the article to its conclusion, went back up to the top of the page to see if I could see any kind of blue (cause really, i saw nothing) and *BANG* Blue/Black. Mah heads exploded everywhere. Started going a little crazy till I realized it was an optical illusion ^_^

 

You are correct it is actually it is a trick of the mind. The original dress is blue/black, but peoples minds adjust the color according to what the eye/brain perceives as the lighting. One persons brain says the lighting is dusk others bright daylight and blammo....the brain adjusts the color accordingly. I think it is funny when I see videos of multiple people in 1 area arguing over what they see.

 

WoW I love when people argue over something like this Specially the color blind people?
Now let me ask you this if you are color blind and you take a look at some color, you see it how ever you see it , and someone tells you that it is called "Red", how the hell do you know how we see that exact same Red? It's the same as knowing what came first the chicken or the egg...

now with this dress of yours, trick of the mind? maybe, combined with the screen your looking at... sit down and think for a minute, not a second longer
now try to imagine that this is actually a picture, you aren't looking at the dress you are looking at the picture. That picture was taken with some kind of camera, every camera is different, not to mention that the same camera can't take two exact same pictures... now think about the light in the room where the picture was taken, normal bulbs are usually yellowish...
The dress material is quite reflective as you can clearly see it's reflecting the light a lot... that could cause people to see any color.
Camera/Lens, the angle between the dress and the light.

Now you don't even want me to start on you Monitor settings and your GPU color correction, gamma ... each...

Thing is this is not an optical illusion it's just a way of marketing and selling an damn ugly dress if you ask me... I'm kidding but,
If it was an optical illusion you would be able to switch between what you see (Black&Blue/White&Yellow (Yes I say yellow because there is no such thing as gold color) )
Like in the example picture of an optical illusion Dolphins or a Man and a Woman ?
(you just know that you have a dirty mind )

Example .. it's a... ohh wait, no/yes, yes/no... ( it's actually both soo duuh... but you can stare at it for hours and not see the dolphins )

You have all seen pictures that move right ? well wrong, it's your brain trying to fill up blank spots Example, ellipses placed in a circular pattern, mind-blown it's moving O.O (oh wait, NOT ) it's only the brain trying to figure out the shape and fill up blanks, between the ellipses while concentrating on the circles that they shape...

Won't even try to explain THIS but i'm sure most of you sow it.

The 2 images of the dress are the same it made with photoshop, making 1 image brighter than other.
I tried it. I took the blue-black image and made it brighter with photoshop and advice what happen .... a GOLD-WHITE DRESS.. UuuUuUUuU mAgiC.
