Please consider enabling deathchests/gravestones for most player deaths

    Ever since ClearLag was added last week it has had a significant impact on reducing the lag issues on Monster1, and I definitely think it's a better solution that having hourly restarts like before, however since it was added I have seen countless people whining in chat that they died just before a ClearLag was triggered, and as a result, even though they made it straight back to their death point, their stuff had already been deleted... this is not good for player moral!

    If deathchests/gravestones where enabled for most death types (notable exceptions being death by fire/lava/etc where recovering stuff would be impossible anyway), this wouldn't be an issue any more as the players stuff wouldn't drop on the ground and be vulnerable to ClearLag deleting it.

    Personally I don't care too much as I have the Advanced Genetics "keep inventory gene" so other than my power armour helmet (which isn't saved in the death enderchest due to a bug that MPS has had for ages..), I don't actually drop my stuff when I die.... but for players who have just joined the server, I can see how it would be very frustrating for them to lose their stuff in such a way, potentially putting them off continuing to play on MYM altogether.

    We can't enable the Graves from the OpenBlocks mod because the item ID is on 0 in the config and if we change it every player have to change the id in the config.

    Ah, what about installing a deathchest plugin?

    I think it would break a lot of mod items, but we could test it on a testserver.

    Cool, well as i say, I have advanced genetics for keeping my inventory already, but I know a lot of other people would appreciate it if you can get it working.

    we tested multiple deathenderchest plugins and some of them work great. However I think that the point of disabling the gravestones is a dupe bug, which also exists by using a plugin. (double deathchest, the item stealer weapon..)

    Maybe trying to change this server to keep inv server (not all deaths, like exploded , fire dmg , drown dmg etc?)

    To be honest, the main reason I suggested trying death-chest plugins instead of making the server explicitly keep-inventory is that I think players should have to go to the trouble of returning to their death-point to get their stuff back.

    Monster 2 has a deathchest plugin that seems to be working quite well.

    unfortunately some players told us that the plugin didn´t work in some cases and the items were gone, so we had to disable it again.

    I don't like this idea. It is a good idea in theory but I believe the consequences are negative to the over all server. This is one of those little fine tunes that decreases the amount of time it takes a player to reach end game and essentially burn out of the game,server, or map. I believe doing so detours players from leaving later rather then sooner. Especially players that play a lot per day. Further more going back to a previous post this is a Survival game and server? You take out the survival aspect and everything loses value.

    Regardless just my two cents,

    You could give as part of the starting kit a syringe with the death enderchest gene and a death enderchest.
    this has often been annoying to me as the Player Interface(which I use to autocharge my armor) has failed me twice and I have had to remake my full quantum both times which would be prevented by allowing this.

    This is actually a good idea to roll off on. brainstorming here: What if at Rank:10 you are rewarded the keep inventory gene? It solves all this stuff and makes the ranks a lot more prestigious up to 10. It also doesn't work without the death enderchest so they still have a cost to utilize it and if they don't have the materials they have to work to get it to work. Rank 10 is good because it's a semi-milestone and they have played on the server long enough to earn something. If we could get this to work, I'd also suggest a reward in the form of a gene at Rank:20 as well (Maybe Iron Golem Health?) A great one to have but not over powered like flying.


    Side note: Told ya man! That player interface block is buggy! Can't say I didn't warn you ;)

    It certainly sounds like a good idea in theory, but in practice, the ender deathchest can be just as buggy as you claim the player interface to be :p

    Known bugs include:
    If you have a completely full inventory when you die while wearing certain types of armor (I've had it happen to my power armor in particular, but I know it happens with others too), the deathchest can bug out and move the item you had in hotbar slot 9 into the slot where your head item should be causing it to not show up in the deathchest inventory (not technically lost, since if you immediately pick up the deathchest by shiftclicking it, the head item will usually pop out as an item, but if you don't do it straight away, and die again afterwards it gets overwritten, which I've seen happen to a couple of people)

    Not sure of the exact cause of this next one, but I've also had it where after moving from M1 to M1+ and back again (before M1+ got reset to M2+ and relinked to M2, but I would assume that moving between M2 and M2+ will also cause it), my deathchest on M1 would occasionally stop recognising me as it's owner, and because the chest is designed to protect itself against interaction by anyone other than its owner, I couldn't even break and replace it, so I needed to call an admin to creative break it for me!

    Not to say that it still wouldn't make a good ontime rank reward, just the bugs with it are something to consider.

    It sometimes bugs out and doesnt take the charge from the universal charger

    I figured as much, but if you'll remember, I did mention when I showed you how to set it up that the player interface, power converter blocks and at least some form of stable powergen all need to be in loaded chunks for it to work correctly...
    My power armor has never had an issue charging via my player interface :p

    Thank you for this info, I was unaware as I've never had an issue with it.

    I'd like to roll off the rank reward idea though. Maybe a simple plugin that says: "IF player group =<10 THEN Keep inventory:true"
