I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn't find a General Bug Report topic. Please move if necessary. Anyway, Adventure Backpacks will disappear in the towers that spawn in the Hubris maps if you die, because of the Anti-Build blocks that are in there. I'd heavily encourage some sort of patch, because the backpacks are very useful and losing them can be devestating.
They will disappear due to a bug with Gravestone mod. This is not only in those towers. Its best to not use these backpacks, you will lose all your items on death.
When the pack is on your back? @CommonExplosion and i both tested this and it didnt place.... possible taint was near. But we both lost out backpacks like this
The bug seems to happen to random people. Some players can retrieve their bag other can't. I don't know what causes the bags to dissapear though. There doesn't seem to be a connection between when they are saved or not.
when iv died my backpack has been a gd upto 10 blocks away sometimes when i die so i hav to seach all over the place for it

And since this pack makes some mobs very hard to battle death is expected. This renders the backpack fairly risky.[DOUBLEPOST=1435387837][/DOUBLEPOST]Update: After lot's of mining I have discovered the lost backpacks. They were hidden underground. I suppose they tried to place themselves where the player died but couldn't since the grave spawns there (resulting in it finding a rondom location?) I suggest others to excavate the area where you died. You may find the bag. (I'll try some further testing)
