i am currently working on building a PC and so far this is what I have made with a friend of mine but since I don't know much about computers I don't know if all of these choices are good. So I was wondering if Some people that know a lot about computers could guve me some suggestions on some parts I could maybe get better for around the same price (if not cheaper). And I also need a wireless adapter. So if u don't mind helping me with some parts I could upgrade that would be sweet. Also this PC is mainly going to be for gaming.

I5 for modded minecraft? throw that processor in the trashcan, you need an I7 for the most intense modpacks, only GPU heavy thing in minecraft is the walruses from extracells

get something thats from 2012+ when it comes to i7, they seem to last awhile for me, and they are a noticable diffrence in speed compared to the i5 from what i've seen

i5 for modded mincraft will work just fine, i am rocking an ADM setup, my full system is cheaper the an I5 alone

    true story

My Core AMD Athlon X4 860K - System Build - PCPartPicker Canada
3.7 Ghz Quad - Ram Clocks 2400 over your 1866

    Your CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (BX80646I54690K) - PCPartPicker Canada

Most I5's cant hold a 2400 ram as TDP of an I5 is too low

AlphaRue - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker Canada
slightly updated list, more of a gaming rig, increased ram, drastically better CPU, added sound card(preference), added additional video card + changed video cards, increased SSD to 256 + changed to mSATA, decreased HDD to 1TB, changed power supply to lower wattage but higher quality, added case fans
the downside though is a $397.25 price change in the opposite direction from that you desire[DOUBLEPOST=1436500007][/DOUBLEPOST]
AMD is most definitely better for the price, the only problem is intel cpus are significantly better for overclocking and multithreading, as well as having drastically inferior caches, which is only relevant while processing large amounts of data for long periods of time
compare the details for the three CPUs

I am not a wizard when it comes to buying the right parts and such, but building computers is something I can. If you are gonna build it yourself I recommend the youtube channel NewEggTV for instructions on how to do it. They have 3 videos ranging from showing you different parts for computers to building the computer and in the last video setting up windows and such.

that PC would be able to stably handle basically any modpack, aswell as deliver high fps on more graphics intensive games, it should be able to deal with basically anything you throw at it, providing you aren't running like 13 instances of a heavily modded pack or like 10 of an FPS game, that is assuming you aren't going to to trying to calculate pi to a billion digits though :p.[DOUBLEPOST=1436527352][/DOUBLEPOST]if you want to reduce the price I could modify it to use an AMD cpu

Why do you need it to use wireless if you don't mind me asking? what's wrong with just running a really long cat6 cable through your house to the modem/router?! :p

As I don't got one of those outlets in my bedroom (where the PC would be) so that means a lot more work to put in.

I think the computer would be for general gaming, not just MC, but dont quote me on that

doesn't matter much, those cpus still have 4+ cores (8 logical cores). In the end (with around 8 logical cores) I doubt there are many games that would run better with more, so the single threading power is still the bottle neck. So a 32 logical core possessor is worse for gaming than a 8 logical core one with a better single threading performance.

Honestly I think the i5 you currently have selected is a perfectly good choice if that's what your budget allows for, in terms of cost to performance ratio actually it's one of the best intel currenly has to offer.

Why spent 100+ extra for only a ~10% increase in performance if you don't need to?!
