Right now the server auto restarts every 2 hours and after an hours time the tps always drops and it drops badly and we have to go an hour with 10 or under tps, normally 5-7 tps for an hour.

And without SRV it think its unfair to restart every hour due to ferret being a unstable modpack

This only pushes the problem back, it'll still be there, so in the end it won't fix anything and hide the problem, also, add a poll if you want to even think about this getting passed by the admins lol

It will be there longer if we don't change the restarts to every hour (dealing with the low tps for longer), therefore doing this will make the server a lot more playable if we restart every hour.

no, because they can't fix the problem if they don't know about the problem, how do you suggest we fix something that we have no idea about?

I never suggested about fixing it nor did i say how. But having more regular reboots will give us better playtime as the tps wont stay as low...

There is still enough data to profile with hourly restarts

And also when it reboots its down for like 3-4 min maybe 5 if your unlucky

That gives 55 min of game time per restart cycle
Now we have around 60 min og game time per restart cycle that is every 2 hours aka
60 min out of 120 min
Do the rest of the maths.

I'd prefer the hourly reboots, and the server isn't even down for 10minutes... So therefore I'd rather have better playtime till they've found the problem.

I personally see no reason to change the reboot perodic times. It is currently what? 2/3 hrs? During that time if TPS is low, create a ticket and a Senior moderator will look into it, it will be better in the long run to fix a problem rather than prolong the results.

Fixes for tps issues? where is your logic? under the assumption that everything is optomized atm to the MAX that means it's player's bases, a modpack update probably means MORE lag, not less

    What creates the tps issues?
    • hardware?
    • bugs?
    • glitches?
    • Bad coded mods?
    • Where is your logic?

Are you really saying that the hardware is not good enough to support 10-15 players?
Are you really saying that MYM doesn't know how to optimize the hardware for modded servers?

Take Tinker construct, i have a bug with some tools that does they have corrupted data, and when the tools is being used it creates a loop of data the server calculate and then recalculate and it keeps doing it until its not being used anymore
Take Applied Energestics it have some bad coding too, or players make a bad setup that also generates loops

Do you want me to keep going?

Mods have bugs, bugs can / most of the time kill a server in more than 1 way

Lets say you buy a refurbished pc. and some of the parts are old even that they work, will you then blame your internet or power input for it not being able to perform optimal? or would you replace the parts that is dragging the pc down?

It's the same with a mod, it have some "old" parts as code that is buggy, that drag the entire mod down and in the end drag the server down.
Fix the "old" buggy part and you will see a overall improvement.

I did ask a admin once if he could request a reboot and i was told no, that doesn't fix the problem
We know it won't fix it but having a server running with 2-5 tps for half an hour to a hour is unplayable

Yes, having sub10 tps is anyone and not considered playable. But think of it this way.

If we get to that point in an hour, with say 20 players online, and we set the restarts to an hour, solves the issue right? Nope.

This only hides what is causing the issue in the first place.

And following your logic, what happens when we have 40 players online? 30 min reboots? No thank you.

The issue is that it seems to take a while for these slowdowns to occur. Granted the more players online the easier it I'd to get to that point. But if we restart the server, we are not solving the issue, we are just ignoring it.

    In regards to modpacks updating:
Yes, when the modpack updates, it will bring about fix to many things. Sadly this does not always fix tps issues. First we have to find them, figure out what is causing them, and then report it to the mod devs.
Then the mod devs need to fix it. To take your example of tinkers, they are no longer updating for 1.7.10 only for 1.8.X so even if we find the issue, sometimes it won't be fixed.
Then lastly we have to wait for the pack to update. Even with KNOWN bugs that cause a CTD, the modpack TDT has gone over a month without an update. An update that is basically dropping in an updated version of ONE MOD. That is all that is required to fix, yet still no update.

So no, it is not as simple as "just restart the server more often" or "update the pack"

We do everything we can to find and fix the issues inhouse, and report them for the betterment of the minecraft community.

    TL;DR
No, we will not be setting the restart timer to 1 hour unless/until all other options have been examined, tried and found not to work.

You're talking like there's alot of stuff they can do to fix it, AE2 is almost the best optomized you can have, MYM has the best hardware per dollar for their performance and quality, badly coded mods, sure, sometimes, but usually veteran modders are pretty good about that type of stuff, glitches? glitches = bugs, lol, where is your logic? maybe ask yourself that
