Hi, I am getting increasingly frustrated with the effectively total ban on trading in Regrowth. I agree that trading should be restricted, and that handing out iron seeds to "Lost Souls" totally ruins the quest progression, and that part of the ruling I agree with, but there are times when I want a stack of wheat and I have several items of equal worth, but I cannot trade with anyone because it is an "end game" item. In Regrowth everything bar cracked sand, flint, deadwood etc is an end game item, so you are effectively banning trade of any kind! To make the matter even more ridiculous, the voting rewards totally ignore the "Quest Progression" problem, and can be any item available in the game. What I am suggesting is that trade should be allowed for items of equivalent value, you can trade iron seeds, for tin seeds but not for diamond seeds, yes this is to a certain extent subjective, and yes it will slightly damage the quest progression, (but no more than the party option sharing rewards when one person completes a quest), but I believe the downside will be far outweighed by the positive benefits of player interaction. Currently players receive voting rewards that are often too high tier for them to use in the foreseeable future, with limited trading they can perhaps get something that will be of use to them in the shorter term. I would be interested in hearing other peoples opinions on this matter, I personally believe that the type of relaxation I am talking about would please a lot of players. Furthermore I believe that this rule is "observed more in the breach than the execution", and that a relaxation would not appreciably effect current game play.
I totally agree. I am not sure right now how this ban is even effectively handled. There is always a "not allowed" in the chat, if someone asks for stuff, but I don't think that mods look into item exchange by themselves, am I right? While there have been some really lazy players asking for free stuff, which is annoying, there are quite a lot of trades which I would consider as fair. So in case of NickTy's example I might even give him the stack for free, since he clearly is able to produce it by himself. Honestly, I gave some stuff away, but I always check first whether this breaks their progression or not. I usually deny if it is clearly ahead their progression. I might have lost my flint hammer in some base though...
I've played Regrowth on both worlds so far. I've never once needed anything from someone that I couldn't get myself. Everything in this modpack is attainable with some work. It's a questing modpack not a kitchen sink. I believe you need to earn what you want. Of course you could just team up with people and bypass all the work that way.
There is a technically bypass on ALL endgame items rules, if you have gotten it before, you can buy a new one from someone else if you prove you've gotten it before
Make the market only accessible from the end world. People that can get there should be close to end game and should be able to trade about anything. Those that shortcut quest to get to the endgame asap, was their choice to bypass quest progression and mess with thier fun. Or -- since there are custom portals in game. Could make a custom trade world that requires a collection of endgame type items to enter.
I think that is a very good idea, but we should also have some restrictions on getting to the end, so you can't do it too early.
My group got to the end within 3 hours of starting the server and we were no were near endgame in any of the mods.
This is the absolute worst part of your suggestion. Seeds are one of the most important things. You want to trade? Make sure you're trading resources, and ONLY if the person has already unlocked that stuff. I am a strong advocate of no trading of endgame items. So I'm against this. There's too many little kids coming on server and begging for almost everything they need already, so I would rather not see any relaxation of trade restrictions.
I obviously misread the current mood on the server regarding this subject ;>) But at no point did I suggest giving out items willy-nilly to anybody who asks, I also get fed up of the people who come onto the server and start begging for , food, dirt etc, and the one good thing I see about the current system is that it gives a way of saying no to such panhandlers, without appearing to be mean or spiteful. Also I think the current rules tend to attract more mature players, (I deliberately did not say older, unfortunately maturity is not necessarily related to age) which in retrospect is not a bad thing in my opinion.
Well from my understanding the whole trade system and endgame items rules is being re looked at and seeing if any improvements can be made to make the whole thing a bit fairer.
Once you unlock the all the area end game is now painful. You have to do everything. While the Quests introduce your to all the major mods, there is much more to explore, but many of them require bits and pieces of other modes to accomplish. It would be nice once the boom is completed that you are free to trade ANYTHING. So yu can specialize and make a base focused on a single mod and use trades to supply materials for things outside of mod.
The big problem with trading is trying to figure out what some one else can already make on their own. I wouldn't mind trading with people for stuff that I'd like a ton of for something they can get, but slower than I can. But that's where it becomes hard to tell. If some one really wants everything given to them, they should just go play single player and cheat everything in.
The only thing I see that either needs a trade value or just simply a reset of the dimension is disturbed and wispy cotton. Especially with the dream dimension being mostly ocean, it's not easy to get. The current state of the server, the frames have been pretty low so one mostly encounters invisible mobs. One could say just make more brews of sleeping but you always spawn at the same place you first entered the dimension, not where you were awaken.
I like the idea of Making a "Trading Dimension", Kinda like the farm world but make it like a town square that you access via the portal. In order to unlock this dimension you would need certain mid to end game items. Once unlocked you gain access to a market/trading area.
