I'm trying to design my base and due to the amount of mods in this pack I am trying to optimize as much as possible to keep my base server friendly. The options for power cables are: Code: -Ender IO Energy Conduits -Thermal Dynamic Fluxducts -Mekanism Universal Cable -Buildcraft Kinesis Pipe -Extra Utilities Energy Node/Energy Pipe The options for wireless power are: Code: -Ender Io Dimensional Transceiver -Thermal Expansion Tesseract
tesseracts are much better for wireless, and the fluxducts from TD are now the best, and EIO have *semi-recently* been the worst, (*cough* since 1.7.10 was updated to *cough*) BC kinesis aren't close to what you'd want, as their server-freindly but can't transfer power ever, and mekanism pipes are buggy iirc
ender io pipes arent too bad actually, especially for their price, what you might want to do is have your main base power cord be cryo fluxducts with ender io ender conduits coming off of that,
but ic2 doesnt like ender io or thermal dynamics, luckily, theres a fix energy transfer node, EU to the rescue
then i stand corrected by a ninja, and should probably stop using ender io so damn much, also i looked at ferret, draconic ev, moving there :3
they have infinite energy transfer per tic, cryo stabalized (cooled whatever) ones do anyway, however, ive noticed that if your using draconic power storage, they draw energy from it even when not connected to anything else, no matter if its on extract or insert, also, putting another form of cable before it as an adapter does not work, (tried ender io conduits) still drains power for no damned reason
My personal opinion of the power-conduits are: -Thermal Dynamic Fluxducts (Can hold inf. charge. Haven't seen any issues since the first few updates of Thermal Dynamics) -Extra Utilities Energy Node/Energy Pipe (really good, but most don't know how to efficiently setup networks) -Buildcraft Kinesis Pipe (simplistic. Would be much better if emerald/diamond pipes could handle more) -Ender IO Energy Conduits (waaaaay too many tile-ents. Often 2x compared to any other tile-entity. Sometimes gets very high time/tick drain) -Mekanism Universal Cable (network issues) But as SirWill said, nothing really beats IC2 cables. You'd probably be able to run 5k of the glass fibre ones, in one base, and not see much issues at all. Gotta love them non-ticking tile-ents.
AE2 p2p tunnel, this is the only one that I never saw anything from, most likely because the cables are not ticking. IC2 is the same, but had some major performance in the past (see tdt), but the latest ones are good.
About the ic2 cables running at 5k eu (ic2 energy) matryoshka said that you would get "some" rf/t out of ender io, from that he best ones, which ain't hard to make btw, you get 20580 rf/t, and by my math 5k =20k rf, meaning, by contrast, ender io's best cables are better than ic2's by about 580 rf/t[DOUBLEPOST=1446026140][/DOUBLEPOST]Plus their fully configurable and will fit in the same space as item and liquid ones quite happily
I meant you can have 5k OF the cables, not that they can run that much They run EV (2048 EU/t), which with ExU energy nodes convert to 8192RF/t. I was aslo only pointing out how the IC2 cables are one of the best when it comes to server-strain, not that they are the best when it comes to max rf/t. But think about this: You can have five EIO pipes in the same block, with filters, redstone etc.... Now, guess how server-friendly they are, compared to other pipes.
good point actually, but wouldn't it count as the same tile-entity if its within the same block, just doing multiple things? and if not, someone bump the EIO creator
those take precious channels and eat up a degree of the pwer put in can't be fixed without a complete rewrite
Yeah that's the main reason I made this entire thread because I remember back when I was co-admin I found that 90% of the time it would either be AE taking ticking like crazy or EIO tile.entites ticking like mad and draining the TPS. I said screw all of it; rushed the Enderium Bee and went straight tesseract connection to every machine to avoid cables. I think Mek cables are better. I used quite a few for my ore quintupling and it seems they are a bit more friendly as of Mekanism 8 update.
