Depends who you ask. I've heard some people say it's going to sequel it's self into oblivion. Others are just die hard fanboys who says "fallout blah blah is the greatest! Fallout blah blah sucks!" It was my first fallout game, So I can't really tell you.

I'm a big Fallout fan, played it since like 1998. Love the universum- postapo. I prefd izometric ones but played a lot of F3 and FNV too.

I didn't find F4 interesting, could not force myself to wander arround Diamond City (1st bigger community). Hate the fact that you can't distribute ability points (Small Guns, Lockpick etc.). Dialogues..... pathetic. There were always 4 option to choose, usually it looked like that:

To say yes, you had two options- "Yes", "Maybe", to say no you had two options- "No", "Not interested". Like why to hell do that? To force these dialogue paths that are totally useless?

I didn't like the fact that there's no solid help/training at the beggining. No describe how to craft weapons/armor. Not that I didn't get it but still, not cool.

Settlements part- small farmville for everyone, you hafta enchance settlements you run into to make settlers happy, so boring. Probably to be skipped totally with no impact on questline.

FOV- something was messed up with my version or everyone has it? Default FOV (85, I think) you can change in console but in my case, when I changed it, after I closed a console it was instantlly going back to default. So annoying.

Perksssss! I like the idea of that vault diagram you use when distributing perk points.

In 0/10 scale, (10 being the best), I'd give:

    F1- 8
    F2- 10
    FT- 4
    F3- 7
    F:NV- 8
    F4- 4

My favorite vanilla Fallout is 3.
My Favorite Modded Fallout is New Vegas

I still play New Vegas still.
As to Fallout 4, i played it with a friend for a few hours, but it did not intrigue me to continue playing. I felt distant from the main character and did not feel i had my own agenda. It feels very simplified when it comes to the RP aspects.

Think i will be excited when Bethesda announced their next ES.

Yup, fogot about a fracture of a storyline. Like Quake3 with Ghouls (and a dog).

Yeah i'm with you on elder scrolls i have 3, 4, 5, and online. I dont think they can top oblivion (or morrowind for the people who thought it was the best). I havent really played online i have to mod if for controller support from what i see so that will be fun.
