Playing on a server that has low TPS in not fun and frustrating. People (not excluding myself) sometimes owerdo it on their builds to that point that these bases add up and while loaded effect the servers perfomance with only a few people on.

I like the chunkloading plugin we are using and it helps alot, but i think it shuld be improved so people can play with better tps.

I agree that on the more busy servers, Golden chunk loaders should be disabled to free up tps. In reference to the people with 10 machines in 1 chunk or 5 reactors (or whatever)when they need 1.

i would like to say can you not, let people choose how long the chunk loader is active for and if im not correct it already takes into concederation how "heavy the chunks are" and changes the cost acordingly

I do not think Gold Chunk Loaders are the cause.
The cause is the pack itself.

Load a chunk with 70+ active ic2 machines and multiply that with active bases and you have alot of server strain. You dont need 50 loaded clear chunks to lower tps, only a few advanced chunks are enough.

Part of this would be solved if people didn't build bases in just one chunk with all the machinery :p But being able to disable the offline feature of gold chunkloaders might be able to help with some of it when the tps is down to 5. Sr. Mod+ ability maybe? Shouldn't be something that could be easily abused or done by just any one.

Also on a pack like Infinity, sometimes you're just sitting around waiting on stuff to craft. That's where the offline loading can be seriously helpful. Evolved more so than normal in this case.

Can I ask what makes you so sure the poor TPS has anything to do with the amount of gold loaders in use and not just the sheer amount of automation that the playerbase as a whole is trying to use all at once.

Chunkloading on it's own is not the issue, it's people overstating (which is against the rules if you look), which we typically define as "having way more machines than necessary just for the sake of it" that is the real culprit, and the worst part is that the pack is basically designed to make players act that way..

When people need to constantly run things like ic2 reactors to make plutonium or have 20+ recyclers constantly feeding scrap into mass fabs to fuel a replicator, or even just things like having to run multiple mob grinders to get various mob drops like the stuff for enhanced galgadorian etc, players can't bear the thought of having to wait several days for that work to be done using a sensible amount of machines, so they instead insist on building more and more of them until the server can no longer handle it, and then start complaining about the TPS without ever considering how much they are contributing to the bad TPS themselves.

We already had few times chicken chunks completely removed on one node and it made zero difference.

that is very true on infinty everything is automated and disabling the chunk loaders would just make people make more lag by making more automaion when there online[DOUBLEPOST=1448951618,1448950958][/DOUBLEPOST]also what is classes as "overstating"

I'm going to be looking into the issues on IE2 today, since it seems to be having some performance issues (I think may be related to someone doing something silly with redstone conduits and logisticspipes, but we'll see).

Please refrain from making assumptions as to the cause of performance issues when you have no data to base those assumptions on. The way to handle this properly is to put in a ticket or a forum post, notifying staff of the low performance issue on the server, so we can investigate it and figure out what's really going on. :)

Add another server I think the capacity that it is at is to high for a mod pack that size

Another possible solution might be to nerf some of the grindy aspects of expert mode while still keeping the recipes the same, for example change the output of depleted rods in the thermal centrifuge to give more plutonium per rod, thus allowing people to make it at a faster pace with less reactors instead of being forced to build 20+ reactors and keep them loaded all the time in order to produce enough to progress, likewise we could reduce the amount of uu-matter needed to make 1 piece of iridium from 120mb to 80~100 and change the recipe for scrapboxes to require 4 instead of 9, so people again won't need 20+ recyclers running constantly in order to produce uu-matter at a reasonable pace.

I love IE expert mode don't get me wrong, it is literally my new all-time favourite modpack, the whole interconnected recipes aspect of it is brilliant, but the deliberate and obnoxious time and processing gates that the pack creators added are just stupid a lot of the time, and seem almost deliberately designed to make life hell for larger servers like ours..

ye basicly the ftb team sat down and though how can we anger mym i now make it slow so everyone needs chunk loaders lol but chaos has a very good point if things were faster then people wouldnt need as many of them and also meaning less lag just look at the creative stuff you need everything automated all the time for it

Wouldn't a potential solution therefore be to reduce process times?

Guys, if people are chunk loading chunks that have massive TPS consuming setups, that's against the rules, and the rules state that the moderators and admins are allowed to take those apart, turning chunk loading off isn't the solution.

also maybe make it so that if player does not log in for 3+ days then chunk loader gets shutoff...
