On a laptop? It might be better to just get a "new" one if you can.

Check google for possible CPU upgrades for your laptop. Integrated graphics (at least any remotely recent laptop's) run directly from the CPU/Ram. So a CPU upgrade will get you better graphical performance as well.

I didn't find any way how to upgrade CPU on my laptop, but I have one free RAM slot. I can install there one 4 GB RAM. Will it increase performance of my laptop (When running Civilization I get 99% of RAM used) ?

if you have 4gb of ram or more, unlikely. It wouldn't know what to do with more than 3GB ram dedicated to it.

Task manager shows that Minecraft is using 3 GB and 99% RAM is used and then without launching anything else it starts showing after some time that Minecraft is using 2,2 GB and 99% RAM is used.

java will allocate all the ram you give it, that doesn't mean that minecraft needs it all.

Can I somehow make minecraft use my CPU more? I often get only 25% used.

No its single threaded but the CPU probably isn't the bottleneck anyways.

That means I won't be able to upgrade my computer. :(

And probably there isn't any good computer out there for 200 Euros.

I meant GPU (graphics) not CPU (processor).

Slind: I think he's saying that his laptop has a total of 4GB of ram, and MC is using almost all of it.

If that's the case, then an extra 4GB of ram for everything else to use while minecraft uses 4GB would definitely help out :p

Unless he has mem intense background programs open, it wouldn't make difference.

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit isn't memory intensive?

Another strange thing I noticed is that when I turn off all particles in Optifine I get massive menu performance boost but menu still looks same.
