Now I know what your thinking, "This mod hasn't been updated since last year," or "Its buggy as heck." Well, ya ofcourse it is. The author hasn't actually given up on the mod, since he's in the process of developing a game. As for bugs, we can solve those on our own. The one thing we're missing in this medieval themed modpack is true magical power. Blood magic, witchery, Thaumcraft, these rely on second hand magic. We can't harness their power directly like Ars Magica would allow us to, and thousands of combinations of spells we could produce would make our PVP server all the more better.

Thank you for volunteering to fix the problems with ars2. Please post a link to your github fork with the issues fixed and we will consider it.

Problem numero uno: the code to Ars was copyrighted, he handed the project to someone else, so @LordFungi 's fork is technically illegal, so no, we really can't

No, IIRC the AM2 dev made it open source a few months ago; stating that he had essentially let go of his ego so that the mod could live on.

    ... Booker "we" was meant as the community, I don't have any knowledge of coding. ;w;
I didn't even think I was volunteering myself, I guess I chose the wrong words to use in my recommendation.

good, now you players can go pay some random 15$ an hour to fix the mod, good luck pooling that money

I'm not specifically saying we should or should not, I'm just saying the alpha/beta players shouldn't get to decide it for everyone :p
And I mean, it ran okay in Hubris, although there were issues.

I really like this mod but... Civilization is not quite "medieval"
I dont want to be rude or anything but the beta/alpha player, played the modpack when it was buggiest and decided several things that made the pack unique. If some (if not all) of their suggestions were not listened, the modpack would be just as any other modpack out there.

So if you ask me between playing a mod that it's half bake for the version we're running and playing according to the suggestions made by the Alpha/beta players, i prefer the second one.

while true ars magica is buggy and hasn't had an update in a while
the fact still remains that the majority of the bugs hardly effect anything at all
minor bug shouldn't mean the total dismissal of a mod every mod has bugs
even ones caused by having other mods in the same pack
now for it improving the server pvp side definitely it would add more variety than just using cross bow bolts to win any and all fights
thaumcraft blood magic botania and witchery are fun
but ars magica beats them hands down on the sear amount of things to do
but in the end it isnt our decisions its the higher ups
we just give our opinions and views of what it could add[DOUBLEPOST=1453199504,1453196569][/DOUBLEPOST]that being said generation could be an issue
since you need quite a bit from the world

    ... Really? Minor?

    • Massive amount of dupe bugs
    • Everything bypasses protections
    • A multitude of blocks that plain out crash servers.
And it has not been update not in awhile, but in forever. Realistically, anything that has not been updated in over 6 months with this many bugs will not be put on any production server that actually cares about it's players.

the fact it bypasses protections can not be classed as a bug
since it was never designed to be used in conjunction with plugins
dupe bugs are everywhere though i haven't seen many in ars magica i cant say there isn't any
but what mods don't cause dupe bugs these days
heck vanilla minecraft have dupe bug late 1.6.4 early 1.7.10
and i haven't had any crashes where ars was the main source of the problem though i am not saying it doesn't cause crashes im just saying i haven't had any due to ars magica itself

    • If it does not work as we need it to work, then it can be classified as a bug. As MyM uses protection system (we are not an anarchy server after all) this is a major disadvantage as a lot of the mod gets disabled.
    • And f.y.i. it doesn't work with other mod based protections, not just plugins.
    1. I am glad you have not found any dupe bugs with ars2. Does not mean that their are none.
    2. Just because other mods have bugs we can fix, these are generally one off's. Also the mod authors are very good at fixing them when reported. Who is going to fix ars2?
    • Other mods get fixed on a regular basis.
