Done Uncraftable items

So, I was doing some quests and this one came up Screenshot by Lightshot
The recipe shown for the hippy generator requires a mana coil which, according to NEI, is obtained by redstone in mana pool Screenshot by Lightshot
The problem is that there's another recipe that costs less mana where you get mana powder, making it impossible to get the mana coil... Screenshot by Lightshot

Doesn't the mana coil take an alchemy catalyst under it used to for that reason.

 

I tried but it also gives you another item I cannot recall atm
