Questions about chunkloading system

Is it better when machines are distributed on more loaded chunks or it is better when they are all in one loaded chunk?

Is it good to put everything in one chunk to avoid need of chunkloaders?

How will the current chunkloading system decrease lag, if everyone puts everything theirs in one chunk?

 

Putting everything in one chunk is the worst idea, EVER. It's better to space them out over a 5x5 area or a 7x7 chunks. The current system takes advantage of voting as you get 500,000 per day which I your loading a 7x7 is 316 tickets per minute. Have you used the MyM chunk loading system before. Putting items and machines in one chunk is terrible for FPS and server resources, so don't do it if you dont want an admin to come delete some stuff.

Admins would never delete your stuff, they would disassemble it and put it in a chest.

Why is it so bad for server? I don't want to use my tokens for tickets, I use them for myms.

 

You think, if you had 10 pulverisers 10 furnaces for ingot generation, then a power supply, an AE system and maybe other machines each one of those is an entity and has to be loaded by the server, now if they are in one chunk it has to load each on up as I think it loads each chunk and moves onto the next so it would go from loading 2-3 entities in one chunk to nearer 50-60 which would slow it down considerably as it has to load all the entities plus it's better if you spread it out in a 3x3 that's 9x16 which is 144x144 area, which is easily chunk loaded at a cheap 195 I think, how much more space would you need 144x144 is big enough[DOUBLEPOST=1454322360][/DOUBLEPOST]Plus at that price if you use all 50 tokens you get 500,000 tickets for chunk loading which can run a 3x3 area for 42 hours so I wouldn't worry about it

 

In all fairness if you have 20 machines it doesn't matter if its over 1 chunk or 20 it will use the same amount of resources

Ae2 can be OK as long as u don't have like 1 billion item on it

 

I am on Civilization so, no AE. I just have 7 floors of farms and I plan on running 18 industrial squeezers, 18 industrial fermenters, 9 refinaries and 9 diesel generators in my one chunk base.

 

might be ok, are the diesel generatoprs singular or multiblock?

i've started with putting everything in one chunk, but...

downside of all machines in one chunk is as said many players get clientside lag, because their pcs can't handle all machines (animations)
basicly everyone is lagging at my old base, even me without using optifine...

downside of spreading is that some mods have trouble with the fact that one chunk is loaded, but the conduits spread to another chunk. i had several rollbacks on other servers because of AE2 spreading over chunks. especially when you use a security terminal it can break cables on chunkborders.

but when you got your area chunkloaded, make use of tesseracts/ender tank/chests you can work around such trouble. also that allows you to only offline chunkload areas which are really necessary. (for example mfr laser if you want to get ores while offline)

that saves you lots of chunkloading tickets.

some hints from my experience:
use FAST machines instead of many machines
- instead of 10 pulverizers/redstone furnaces make use of IC2 machines with upgrades, they are worth the work
- use speedupgrades where needed instead of adding more machines/conduits. enderio conduits are from my experience the fastest itemconduits and can grab stacks instead of single items, same for AE2 import/export bus

- don't chunkload draconic energy cores, a chunk with them costs 55tickets, a chunk with a big enderio capacitorbank costs 5 tickets

- make a chunk for every mod, so for example if you do bee's make a own chunk for them with a energybuffer that lasts some hours/days

- don't build multiblock structures over chunkborders, press F9 twice to show borders

- don't try to automate everything, it's sometimes better to add some bedrockium drum / AE2 Chest with large card to a machine(cluster), and manually import that stuff to your ME
that also saves server resources

 

Or dont make a 16x16 chunk lag machine

 

I just don't like idea of paying for chunkloading. I often try to use fast machines when I don't have something automated because walking from pulverizer to pulverizer all day is kind of Meh. Those machines are then used when the system is automated.

 

It takes like 5 minutes and you get 42 hours of chunk loading
