Im trying to get my brother playing and hes useing a worse computer, and i wanted to install optifine on the AGS+ server, but i just dont know what do to with the mym client as im used to the ftb one being really easy to add mods. Any help with that? Also when he joined my party on the quest book i didnt realize it would make all his quests up to mine, if we could reset that so he can start from the start that would be awesome. IGN: HyndarLee I'll be online at the same time as him so you can make sure i'm not just asking to reset some random persons quest book
It's in your roaming folder like your normal vanilla minecraft launcher but I would not recommend optifine as a good mod for a modded client as it reduced my frames per second
1. OptiFine Downloads (Download there an Optifine for 1.6.4 | Which one? hmm, depends on your System.) 2. Windows Button,- write in search %appdata% open the folder "Romaing" then -> .mineyourmind -> instances -> MyM-FTB-Agrarian_Skies+ -> Minecraft -> Mods and just put there the Optifine.jar file, DONE!. Edit; according to chao's post, you can get easier to the mod folder if its needed
How optifine affects your FPS depends entirely on how you have it set up, it can either dramatically increase graphical quality, potentially at the cost of FPS (which is what people with custom gaming computers use it for), or it can nerf the graphical settings far below minecraft's native "minimum quality" settings giving a dramatic increase to FPS (which is how people with low end computers use it for). From the launcher, rightclick AG+ in the list and click "Open Folder", then paste the mod.zip into the /mods folder.. as for finding a build of Optifine that is compatible with AG+, that's up to you, as I haven't used Optifine since FTB-Ultimate 1.4.7
Thanks for the help guys, I got it working I used optifine HD 1.6.4 and it worked like a charm (after I installed it wrong once and had to reinstall the modpack haha). Anyways for me and the computer we run optifine on, without optifine I get around (fluctuating) 7-13 fps without to around 45-60 fps with it. So it literally makes it not cringe worthy to play lol. But thanks for the warning @iTzKrAaZy I appreciate the consideration I'll keep that in mind that it might not help on all computers I try to put it on.
I'm quite sure that you could get to similar results without optifine, when you reduce the fov, render distance, particles and all these other settings. I never got better results by using optifine on a heavy modpack.
Last time i used optifine in 1.6 ftb then the TC smelteries were flickering like crazy, the 'window' areas of TE3 machines were transparent (like the middle of activator), redstone lamps like the illuminator looked like just glass with a small tint, no yellowish effect like normally. Then water and lava were super ugly. The gain on my machine (10fps) was nowhere enough to justify this crap.
Yeah now that i think about it, one of the other mod packs did that. I think monster. But for AGS+ it seems to work perfectly so maybe im just lucky this time around.
