Too much lag on tekkit legends

    Hello guys.

    I would like to humbly suggest to reduce amount of EE power flowers on the server. Right now it is sad to see that mining "by hand" takes few hours (because you can mine 2-4 blocks and than you have to wait for lag spike). Also on the server are around 4-10 people max.

    Most of new comers are not staying only because of lag problem.

    Hi there, could you give us a little more information on the lag you've been experiencing? Is it all the time or only if the server has been up for a while? Is it worse or better at specific times of the day? etc etc, the more information you can give us about the issue the more likely we are to be able to find a solution.

    I've fiddled around there and not noticed this, so as Kronn said if you could point us to a time when it does happen we can try and sort it out

    It seems to have lag spikes all day, even with only 1 player online.
    There is no "time" that it happens most, because its all the time.

    Sorry for writing late, but as Krhymez said it is happening most of the time (rarely there are no lags).

    To point things out, I will write all that i know about tekkit modpacks affecting servers.


    On most of servers that have EE unbanned there are lags. On one server that had EE and no lags they just restricted it to 2 power flowers.
    While EE is mostly used mod in whole server, 90% of the people are using it placing power flowers one above another(to use gold block to load only one chunk). Good solution would be either restricting gold blocks for other mods and leave EE with iron block(load only while player is online) or restricting EE power flowers to only several (2-4) or restricting to the power used(MK1 or MK2 collectors and no MK3).

    About Gold chunkloaders, they are working all the time if player have tickets. If there would be restriction to offline loading only for few hours, it would just make people either to come more often or make less lags while they are gone.

    There are also other possibilities of getting less lag (but first EE should be cutted to number anyway because lags are still preasent). Mentioned other way is to promote different modpacks (i know EE is easiest and most efficient), But as it is for now, farmworld is empty and it is only because people are using EE instead of mining resources. Right now blue markers are banned (to not make too big quarries) and that is one of the reasons why everyone are going for EE. It is just not worth for them to care about small quarry while they can duplicate items. I would suggest to unban markers while cutting EE to smaller size.

    Good practice about IC2 would be to make a rule to always create higher level of solar panels whenever it is possible (i beliave some people are just making power flowers from the lowest grade solars even that they have 8 of regular or lv). Also restricting IC2 to only few HV solars would be great.

    Another thing that creates lags are pipes (hundreds of blocks floating through the pipes can kill even strongest server). Good practice is to advice players of covering pipes so they will not be visible (beliave it or not but it makes a difference).


    One more thing about EE, I saw a quite interesting solution for slowing it's progress. Whenever someone had resources for Energy collector, he was going to the shop and in exchange for them, he was getting collector (but it was possible only once a day and collectors making was fully banned). I think it could be applied to any type of mod. It can even be applied to limit numbers of power flowers in total, for example limit the number of exchanges to certain ammount. Ofcourse when we would look to the other side, what if someone will lose his collector? Well, than it would have to be verified by moderator.


    Violating rules of too many things should be also checked every sometime and cutted right away after violation.



    To sum things up, the only mods that can cause problems are EE and IC2 while here we have problem with EE.
    To answer your question SirStudMuffin, if you asked why it is lagging, I know it is EE because it is always it's fault. Servers with no lag record just don't have EE. To answer why im sure new players are not staying due to lags, yesterday i saw guy saying "im too much rubbering so this server is not server for me, take care guys", which basically means he had lags. Other players on server are just asking if the lags stay always or they are just quitting right away when they see some mining.



    I know it's a lot of things and possibilities i wrote, but we have to do something. For new players, it is just furious to dig 3 blocks and wait 20 sec.

    And last thing i would like to mention is, economy. The best economy i saw was when players were not allowed to give things for free or exchanging for too low price. It makes people work hard for what they get and slows down progress, I know everyone want to go as fast as possible to be rich, but giving a new player 1 RM and 1 DM + gem armor is just braking everything in a half (and "Lost Souls" are running around with full RM armor) and by that a new farm of EMC is created right away (i think you see my point).

    Thank you for your response and suggestions. I'll take some more time to poke around on the server at different times to see if we can tidy up some of these issues.
