So I've made a Nether Portal, followed the tutorial in the video by placing a "portal" sign underneath as well as a piece of redstone dust underneath the button, so the portal does come into existence once I choose a destination. However, after a few seconds, I hear the sound of glass breaking and the portal goes out. Is this intentional, or is there something wrong? I don't want to step through it and get trapped because it stops working (though I do have the /home setup so it's not the end of the world.)
It is working as intended. the portal opens a way to the chosen dimention temporarily, and you can always get back via /home
Rubijox is correct. It works a little different than the vanilla portal. Our portals have an on/off switch to the various dimensions available. The portal is not meant to stay on which is why you hear the glass breaking sound when it turns off.
