Are there issues with passive mobs spawning? most notable Fluid Cows. I have a 16x16 single chunk above sealevel, fully grassland, even placed a chunkloader in it. No hostile or passive mobs in atleast a 7x7 chunk radius. Anyone able to advice or help? Soeren67 Project ozone 2 - Kappa
Hello Soeren67, Thank you for reaching out to us, There can be a multitude of things preventing mob spawns on your island: The Passive Mob cap is reached, the server enforces a mob cap to prevent lag and instability. Mobs only spawn when you're more than 24 blocks away, chunk loaders may also have a negative effect. (Most) Passive mobs do not spawn in the ocean, beach, river or desert biomes. There needs to be sufficient amount of light on your grassland. (Open to the sky will do.) If these did not cause the issue, please reply to the thread and let us know! Kind wishes, Jitrid
Hmm it is in an ocean biome, but I have never had trouble having cows spawning there before, and there is no other biomes within my claim. The area setup is 32+ blocks away from my base. I set up a chunkloader after several hours of no mobs spawning, no change with or without chunkloader. I thought passive mob count was based on localized chunk sizes, varying from server to server. I dunno if there is a serverwide max. if so, it suc*beep*. Follow up questions: Are fluid cows available by any other means than passive generation? Is it perhaps possible to obtain a way to change biome for a single chunk? or whole claim area? Thanks in advance. Soeren67 Project Ozone 2 - Kappa
Hello again, I have consulted with you in-game and will await the results of the attempts. Kind wishes, Jitrid
Oh well, tried with a forest biome and a plains biome in the opposite end, no luck. [doublepost=1526020267][/doublepost]Oh well, tried with a forest biome and a plains biome in the opposite end, no luck.
Silly question, but where is your island spawn set? Passive mobs will not spawn with the twenty-four block area of your spawn/bed either they are extremely shy!
5+ chunks away [doublepost=1526081436,1526053594][/doublepost]By advice I built a larger area with grass. I built a 4x4 chunk (ie: 16 chunks) with grassland. I changed 4 chunks to forest and 4 chunks to plains. setup like this: O P P O O P P O O F F O O F F O O = Ocean Biome (Accoding to my knowledge Fluid cows can still spawn in Ocean Biomes) P = Plains F = Forest The island spawn area is 61 blocks away from the nearest Grassblock I spend no time within 24 blocks (Most of the time atleast 50blocks away) The height is 64, ie: above sea level The area is above light level 8, so no hostile mobs able to spawn there. No spawn of ANYTHING within 9 chunks around, so should be nothing interfering. As of this minute, no passive mobs spawned yet (just finished setting it up) will report as time goes on. PS: Dunno if there should be chunkloading there (AFAIK 128 blocks around a player is active). Soeren67 Project Ozone 2 - Kappa [doublepost=1526092736][/doublepost]I had 3 sheep, 1 horse and 4 fluid cows spawn, guess it's working although surprisingly rare You can close the issue. Many thanks for the advices and help. HUGE thanks to Jitrid for granting me MyM's of his own pocket so I could test the Biome Change. Soeren67 Project Ozone 2 - Kappa
The chunks do need to be loaded and on ozone 2 you only load the chunk you are in. the chunks that are not loaded run roughly 3x slower
well, not gonna use chunkloaders to keep 16 grasschunks runnig, so I will just have to live with the slowness.
its really cheap to get an iron chunk loader set to 9x9, thats what i did before sphere base beta got wiped
God damn patrions ruining everything but i understand minecraft is not what it used to be and server owners got to keep it up somehow
