Railcraft for 1.12.2 was released Christmas day. I suggest adding it to all 1.12.2 packs, and specifically Revelations.

No, the server does not add mods to modpacks that FTB doesn't add.

As Chugga stated, adding mods to packs that MyM hosts is not something we do. It would in it's essence be theft of someone else's work if it were to be done. What you can do though if you believe railcraft should be added to these packs is suggest it for the creators of the packs instead.

I don't see how adding a mod to an existing pack could be construed as theft, but if the server owners don't want to...I understand. I am sure it will be coming to future 1.12.2 packs. It is an outstanding mod.

The main reason MyM does not add mods is really simple. If it is on the server it has to be on the client. (Not including server side only mods)

So if MyM added railcraft (which is still super buggy by the way) then everybody connecting would have to also install it. And while that would work for players using the MyM launcher, it would not work for anybody using the twitch or FTB or ATL or Techic launchers.

Just so you understand the reasoning behind it.

The only exceptions really is if MyM hosts a custom pack the made, such as AG+, Death is Expected, or a few other custom packs.

It's counted as theft as the mym staff would not have had permission from the author to add it to the pack or from FTB to modify the pack

FTB doesnt own any of the mods in the pack, and they have permission from the mod owners to add them to a pack, so adding a mod to the pack does not require FTB permission. In fact...in several posts on their forums the moderators tell you had to add mods to any FTB pack.

Railcraft is used in several modpacks, and has a page dedicated to usage on servers...short answer...you have permission as long as you follow rules.

    Info:License [Railcraft Wiki]

This took about 5 minutes of research to discredit everything about not being allowed to add the mod. Again, if the server owners don't want to add the mod...that's one thing, but please don't blow smoke about why they won't/can't.

Oof, you still don't understand that (even if it wasn't theft) it would be slightly harder for new players to join the server

I never said anything about the difficulty of newcomers using different launcher, and I am able to understand everything that has been stated. My comment, which i guess you are not able to comprehend, was that stating it was theft was completely untrue, and dismissed with a few minutes of research. I also stated that if the server owners don't want to, then okay, but not to give reasons that were not true. I guess that part also got by you.

Long story short...the server owners could do whatever they wanted with the mod packs, as long as they were within the rules, and by someone saying they can't because of some sort of untrue limitation is a little insulting.

Thank you to BookerTheGeek for expressing possible difficulties of using multiple launchers without being pretentious, or condescending about it.

A simple "they won't" would have done nicely.

    Oof!
