Implemented Lost island due to Sync problem.

    I got killed twice today. First time there was no problem getting back to one of my 2 clones. I rebuilt the clone and went on.

    Second time I died I got killed by a mob, and I initially saw the animation of being transported back to my clone. I walked out of the Sync station and I somehow instantly glitched/rubberbanded back to my death point. The mobs were still targeting me but they could not kill me. I wasn't able to interact with anything in any way. So it was like my client showed me at my death point but the server had me registered at the sync station.

    I relogged to fix this assuming I would be at the sync station when I logged back on. Unfortunately all I got was the game over screen at my initial death point and no other option than to click respawn. So I got thrown back to the lobby and after that my island was gone.

    You should be able to see two Sync stations in my house with two clones. One of them might be gone due to what just happened.

    Can anything be done or is it just tough luck? :)

    I've got some in game tickets for it too. Don't know why it got split into 3. #3246, #3247, #3248

    yep have the same problem, encounter it around 20.50, did the same because i didnt read this topic. I died and was floating around the point where i died, i was left between my death and my clone. I requested a mod but already had to go, so i logged off and came back and insta death. I think the ftb software is fine, but the software of the server makes sometimes a mistake with the sync stuff. Already died once because my sync didnt work but that time i lost less then 2 days. I would really appreciate if a mod could fix this, that i can go futher on my island. I dont care if my island get rolled back and that i will lose a couple of hours of work. Its far better then losing days of work of a server bug.

    I had the same thing happen to me, but instead of re-loging I waited it out and ended up back whare my clone animation was. Also any time you die, if you log out before you are in your actual clone, it is instant game over, this is due to the sync mod not being able to finish its sync with your body.

    I also posted this on one of the other topics to help ppl with sync problems, I hope it helps with
    dodging any other issues with sync mod.

    When making a sync, you should always do a few things to make sure it works right. Some of those things are
    1: Log into the server through the lobby, Direct connections seem to unsync you sometimes.
    2: After starting your clone, relog to make sure the server keeps up with your shell properly. This is backed by the mod author, who posted it in his/her remarks for mod, and has also already been posted by others to ensure everyone know's!
    3: If your not setting your constructor, or storage on normal (Default) minecraft blocks, leave the space above it 2 blocks high, so you don't suffocate.
    4: As soon as possible, build a shell storage. Don't store a shell in it but instead, step in it to check if your clone is inside your constructor, or other storage area.
    I have found that keeping a shell storage empty to manually check my sync has been VERY usefull and it lets me know if the system is glitched out, and whether or not I can go crazy, or if I have to be carefull.

    My shell constructor was definitely working as I've used it both today and earlier.

    There was a lot of lag and server crashes earlier today before this happened. That might have contributed to it. So I'm guessing the answer is to wait 30-60 seconds, maybe longer, if you find yourself back at the initial death point. I'm not sure how long I waited after I saw the Sync animation but somewhere between 15-30 seconds. My normal response when my client comes out of sync with the server is to relog so that's what I did.

    I still hope there's a chance for a restore.

    When you create a /modreq, when you write too much in 1 modreq, it will split them into multiple.

    Unless they have bugged out, and created 2 extra.
    I can get on now and remove the other 2 for you > That way /check open isn't spammed for us.

    Of course, don't hesitate to do this, because if gives us a lot more detail!
    Better to open than just 1 if it's going to help us understand the situation :)

    It seems that we maybe need to change to orginal sync system to a point system. Or?

    I really like the Sync mod and the way it works in Crash Landing. You can still fail and loose your island if you are not careful (Blow up the clone/die twice/run out of power). What I of course don't like is when it doesn't work as expected. A point based/life based system would probably change the balance as you would know you can't fail if you have x amount of points/life when you start out.

    However it is hard to think of another solution when it is something that has to be implemented server side only.

    Maybe it could be done by sacrificing let's say 10 bottles of water. Everytime you die the amount increases. Something like that would give meaningful balance to the game. This would also maintain the "hardcore" play style as it'll take time to earn your first extra life.

    I have had multiple constructor glitchouts, whare there was a clone there and when I checked them with my shell storage, it was not there. I am running some tests in different area's hopeing to find a more stable area, or the cuase of the glitches. Though I can't see what the server is saying, I have a good since of what goes wrong based off trial and error :) I will post something if I find anything useful out.

    Since I never got any reply to my tickets after this happened on CL1 I started playing on CL2. Now the same thing happened again and I lost my island again. The shell constructors just doesn't work for me.
    This time there was no rubber banding I just immediately got the game over screen.
    I've seen a lot of people complaining in the chat about it too.
    At this point I'm done playing on mym. This time it's just too much. Thanks for all the fun :)

    If we change it to life point system how should a player get points? At the moment someone needs to make a shell storage and energy.

    Exactly. Look at my post a few posts up SirWilli. There's a suggestion regarding water bottles. It would be a relatively simple thing to implement. The only disadvantage is that there seems to be plenty of ways to get infinite water early on. But then again it doesn't take long to get a survivalist generator going and make as many clones as you want.
    Since the current balance seems to be that once you have a survivalist generator you can pretty much get as many clones/lives as you want, maybe the point/water bottle idea is more complicated than it needs to be. Another way could simply be to disable the Sync mod/shell constructor completely and simply don't reset the island once the player reaches the nether. It doesn't make the game as hard as I think it should be but it seems to be how the game is already balanced when you use the shell constructor/survivalist generator.

    you could give each player a specific number of lives and let us buy hearts somewhere, like agrarian, although that would be a lot easier to do then what we have now, maybe make the lives a bit more expensive though
    although, once you have a steady source of power you can make clones fairly easy

    Hmm.... Really? Why not make hearts purchasable from the in game store? The one you get to by typing "/is"
    • Full heart $400
    • Half heart $250
    • 1/4 heart $150

    Wouldn't it be half heart $200 and 1/4 $150, otherwise no one is going to buy the half/quarters because they're more expensive than buying a full

    It should be more efficient to buy more of a heart at a time... bulk discount.

    I personally think that you should NOT be able to buy a full heart from one day of voting. Balance should be about 2 full hearts every three days of voting. Make the half heart 60% of a full heart, and a 1.4 heart 60% of a half heart. (round the 1/2 & 1/4 hearts up to the nearest $10 dollar mark)

    Also, this would make it so that one could go in and modify the quests on the server to give a heart instead of a sync shell.


    Better yet would be to make HQM recognize a Clone in a "Sync Storage shell" (NOT the constructor) as an additional heart. Also would be nice if we could fix the dying in other dimensions not really counting as a death.

    We can't use the HQM hearts as they would reset frequently.

    We added a workaround fix for one of the sync bugs now.
