I have been on servers that use two titles it doesn't take up much space at all. Considering you can change your settings on how chat is displayed.

I think the formula is just not good. You get multiple new ranks within a couple hours. Maybe the numbers just should get adjusted.

I still think a dynamic system that recalculates the numbers based on the playtime statistics would be fun. You can also find ways to filter the extremes out of the Calc, do they don't mess up the numbers. For example use median instead of Average.

 

I would suggest something further on your idea sandström. Have the immortal rank based on the average playtime of the top 10 players (weekly) then adjust everybodies rank according to that. So this might demote some people, but will keep the ranks dynamic.

 

So one week you're an immortal, the next you're a Demigod, and the next again you're an immortal.

If you kept the rank after obtaining it once, i would accept the idea. But switching it around every week is one of the worst idea's i have heard in a good while.

 

The problem with average is that the extremes are too heavily weighed.
I also think that looking at top 10 is the wrong way. The ranks needs to be adjusted to the middle of the player base, that is where the most players are.
Filter out the people on the lowest end, which are the ones that join, get promoted, then never come back. Then take the median of the rest. Median is the number where 50 percent are lower and 50 percent are higher. Then decide whether the curve needs to be linear or exponential or whatever and adjust it there. Of course a meaningful calculation is way more complicated than that.

Average is dangerous. Just an example. Let's take taxes. Assume government decides that everyone pays the same taxes and that it should be 40% of the average income of all people. The 1%ers would increase this number in a way that it would be unbearable to the average person. With the median you filter out those extremes. You would now pay the taxes of the person in the exact middle of the pack.

 

yea but this isnt taxes. its a cosmetic rank that does zilch.

obviously such a high rank requires a name of stature. "MyM-furniture"
after all being around for that long you are becoming respectable MyM furniture that know the rules inside and out and have probably been on multiple packs on the MyM network

 

I think another cool idea since I did make this a while ago is that: PATRON tier 3 should have full access to /nick. We should be able to recolor our own name, make it crazy with some BOLD, and Italics text.

 

I just want my name rainbowed or funky
