Hi. I think that there should be added a page to the Chunkloader FAQ about the Chunk throttling on MyM. The only places that i have ever found information about this, has been random forum comments from staff members or other players. Not even the FAQ mentions it anywhere, which means that new players have no way of knowing, except by trial and error, or asking Discord about why their setup does not work (Which does not always result in the correct answer) Here is a page example, use it as you want: On all MineYourMind servers we have chosen to throttle chunks near the player to 5% of their original speed, in order to keep the TPS of the server as stable and close to 20 TPS as possible. The chunks near the player are slowed down as such: [P] = Primary Chunk (Where you are) = 100% Speed {S} = Secondary Chunk (Chunks near you) = 5% speed {S}{S}{S} {S}[P]{S} {S}{S}{S} If you would like to have all your loaded chunks run at 100% speed, please read this page regarding chunkloaders, or use the command "/cm info" while you are in-game. Please let me know what you think. -Willshaper
Wow, is it really a 95% throttle? Yeah, it would be nice if this kind of information was more readily available. I don't even want to think about how much time I could have saved by loading some chunks.
The problem is I've heard so many "facts" about the chunk throttling, that I don't know what is true.. Some say 20%, some say 10%, this post says 5%. Some say it's a bubble around you, so not only horizontally but also vertically etc.. It's a mess, and the fact that MyM doesn't have a public page with this info is mind-boggling, and one can only ponder why that is.
The chunk that you are in is running at 20TPS, everything else on the server is 1 TPS, this was confirmed by Hanoverfist69 on Discord yesterday:
... that was not what it used to be. If I remember correctly that is, which I might not be. I've always chunk loaded each chunk of my base either way just so stuff will process while I am out mining so not really an issue for me but I can see why it would effect others. Either way it would be nice to get a definite response here from an @Admin with access to the actual settings.
@Aidoneus could check if he is not busy I would think. Luv ya Aidoneus. If the admins don't by know or can't find out they would need to ask slind or sirwill
@Aidoneus What they are asking for is a detailed explanation, preferable with pictures, that explains in the both a technical and simple way about how the server saves resources by slowing down the tickrate in chunks that are not loaded or currently occupied by a player. Hopefully with the rte of the slowdowns listed.
seconding this. It is unknown to most of the newer players that join MyM that this is the case. They tend to just assume it works here like on a private server and dont even bother with chunkloading. They just wait for stuff to grow in other chunks only to realise its not growing as fast as it should be. Should be mentioned somewhere. Like in the rules, or in those server-chat-spam-info-messages.
