Hello everyone! This is your friendly neighborhood Administrator Aidoneus! Now that I got my introduction out of the way, I wanted to give everyone this heads up about this DAY LONG server maintenance. Now, I know this isn't very fun to do, but it must be done sadly. With this is mind, let me explain to you what is going on and when this is all happening! This will happen all day starting on Wednesday May 31st, 2023 @2pm CEST and will last about 16 hours once it starts. Time Zone Converter Mob Spawning Issues This mostly affects our All of the Mods 8 server but this will eventually affect other servers down the road if we had to guess. The Explanation: To give everyone a rough explanation of what is going on without getting into what @iLuxxy likes to say "computer talk," the main issue is mob spawns or specifically spawn tick rate. To give you all an idea, since @HanoverFist69 changed the rules here the rules have fired several million times. This obviously not being good for server performance. Looking about both GriefDefender and Spark profiles/debugs, this issue is apparent to Sirwill and I. At this point, it is almost better if we didn't try to limit mobs which we all know how that went. Our Bukkit (1.6 + 1.7) and Sponge (1.12) servers, we had a way to control this in the server software relatively easily. When we decided to not use a server software for plugins anymore, we no longer have/had this option. During this downtime, we will be implementing a new rule system that should prevent this and have less of a server impact. Memory Leak - FTB Skies Ever since we updated FTB Skies to a newer version of the modpack, there has been a pretty serious memory leak. I did find what was causing the issue but there just isn't an easy way to fix this. I tried rolling back the version a day ago which the issue wasn't present but the damage was done already from what I can tell. If you really want a more technical detail of this you can see that here where I reported it to the mod author. I do not know how long this will take for the mod author to get back to me so I can work with him on really fixing this but until then, the server just isn't playable. I have tried disabling or removing everything from that mod but this didn't work sadly. At this point in time, I am thinking about resetting the server. This definitely isn't ideal but we want you all to be able to play on the server without these worries. I am still 50-50 on doing this but this is the only option I have. You can always voice your concerns about this reset here or on our discord new-server-support channel. Other Updates This is the boring stuff but I will mention it anyways to you all in-case you all really want to know. I will just list out what we will be doing. Proxy Changes Performance Tuning Plugin Updates Plugin Config Changes Possible Changing of Player forwarding handling Backend/Minecraft Servers Unify Configs across servers for easier management Solidify Update scripts and processes to make pack updates smoother (Mostly Admin Related) GameRule adjustments across servers. Example being sleep through the night percentage Java Tuning Server-side mod updates / fixes Server-side mod tuning Possibly implementation of new features /pvp feature to fight between your friend who want to duel each other (possibly) Closing Thoughts Lastly, I just want to thank everyone for bearing with us while we do our best to provide you all with the best server experience we can.
