So I have been consciously trying to optimize my ME network and base to have the least amount of drain on the server but it looks like I have accomplished just the opposite. I have my network spread out over 4 or so chunks, autocrafting done in one, bees in another, ore processing in another etc.. I have all but cleared my ME drives of all large quantities of items. I have 26 deep storage units all with storage buses instead. I put all my princesses in a filing cabinet as suggested by a mod, but it ate over 1500 rocky princesses, I learned the hard way they only hold 96 of any one item and has a 540 total item limit. It just deletes items beyond that. The new profiler had me at around 145 lag rate, then I added 8 more deep storage units, and now it has gone up to around 190-200. So it seems like it may be an issue with buses. The more storage buses, export buses I add, the more lag I get. This has forced me to shut down my system for the server sake, I hop on it to grab stuff when I can, but this makes it no fun and would really like some help fixing the issue.

thats the issue. storage bus is bad solution. I did find out about this lately and haven't gotten to update guide. Disconnect them for an hour and you will see. If you have the ME Systems connected via Storage Bus, that is even worse than one system. The connection needs to happen via a buffer not allowing access to the other side directly.
I would go for 64k drives and void everything above the 64k or 128k in case you need that much.

The storage buses are only connecting to the deep storage units, i dont use them anywhere else. So you are saying the DSU's are a bad idea? I have a system built off of p2p tunnels. So what Im getting at is put everything from my dsu's, back onto my drives, and just delete everything above 64k?

What do you store in the deep storage?

hmm test it for you self. Try cutting of the DSU Storage Bus's for half an hour and you will see. Let me know your findings.

Instead of using DSUs I would suggest making a separate ME Drive for everything via partitioning. I haven't tested it fully but it seemed to work better than the DSUs. One 64k drive can hold something like 8000 stacks of one item (ME Storage Math - Applied Energistics Again not 100% sure if this will be better but its definitely something to consider.

OK, so sure enough, it dropped the lag substantially when i disconnected the DSU's.

@TheVoidReaver I am willing to try anything. I only did this cause I know that overloading 64k's with 100's of thousands of items causes issues as well. I just havent seen a good alternative. Are you saying to replace dsu's with ME chests pre formatted for a particular item? cant see how this is better than just storing in my normal drives.

If you store dirt/cobble... in the deep storage you could use export/import bus + me level emitter.

how many items do you need of one resource per day at a max?

Depends, I usually build 2-3 Solar VI's a day and 20-30 ultimate hybrid solars. Other than that I am good, I just have to setup a bunch of trash cans with level emitters i guess to keep the item count to 64k like you said. If i put an export and import on a dsu with a level emitter wouldnt the item just get put in and taken back out immediately and forever?

I mean what I ended up doing was using pre formatted 16k drives for each item and then voiding any additional items. This allows for a total of ~130k of each item (assuming stack size is 64). It's just a way to limit your ME size as well as keep the data stored per drive to a minimum since there is only one type of item on it.

not if you leave a 20k diff or so. But I guess that needs a bit of experimental testing to figure out a system. Say, the me system reports the items dropped below 20k and emits redstone to the import. Once the 60k are hit another redstone signal is being pushed to the import stopping it. The same the other way around. So it could be kept at 40k for example.
I never tried this and have no idea on how good it would work or not work. I guess if it is possible with computer craft it would be fairly easy and false safe.

Please, guys, fix this. Is barely unplayable. There is 2-3 seconds pause constantly, and playing in the server is becoming a hell of experience.

I would take a look at the chicken chunk loaders, I dont think all of them are unloading on player exit like they used to.
