Hello, I have started to play a bit of horizons and have found out that some items wich should have EMC do not. There is a command ingame to add emc to blocks and atleast one i miss is Redstone Blocks. Wich should be 288 since 9 redstone is 32 each.

Assigning EMC to items is never a good idea unless someone is willing to spend AGES doing ALL the possible math and calculations to avoid EMC dupes. But ya know if you have the time and can provide the evidence go for it :p

AFAIK the reason it doesn't have a value is to prevent it's use in dusts. See, 1 redstone wouldn't produce anything but ash, but a redstone block would make it verdant dust if it were to have an emc equal to 9 redstone, putting it in a higher tier without changing the material. The same goes for the gold block, however this time with it jumping from azure to minium. This forces you to obtain materials that actually fit these tiers. That's why something like the Lapis block has an emc value. Both it and normal lapis fit into the azure tier. It's a bit inconvenient, but at least there's a reason for it.

To be completly honest i think that mechanic is pure poo haha. Like the mod isent broken enough it wants to stop it from aquire better dust from a bad material. Then why dont it block compressed cobblestone as the octuple one will make you the minium while the single cobble will only make you regular dust. The sytem is based on vanilla mc with one mod, but that cant be it any longer mod authors have to see few people using their mod as only one. And if pahimar dident want that feature why did he allow mods that used vanilla recipe to have emc like i stated before octuple cobblestone wich can be aquired at around 0/5 per hour if you got a good cobble gen with Extra utils.

thats actually WRONG, the reason gold block doesn't work is that gold and the blue ingot from EC3 are oredictionaried and can both be used in items requiring gold ingots, which is the reason it doesn't work -.-

That doesn't completely make sense, given that the pale gem shares an oredict with diamonds and emeralds in the same way the pale ingot does with the gold ingot, yet diamond and emerald blocks work fine. It also would not explain redstone, which has no pale counterpart.

    it's still a thing, it's oredict confusion
