Hello *waves* It was already in 0.7.4 an issue, since I was told back then "That is normal" I didn't make a thread here. But since I'm not actually sure if that is normal... now for 0.8.2 I make the thread About the issue: It seems that sometimes mobs despawn, which are normally not meant to despawn (animals, villager, even name-tagged mobs which should be completly out of the despawn mechanic). I'm not sure why they do - it seems totally random, like my sheeps in 0.7.4 never despawned, but my cows and chicken very often suddenly vanished - but seen on the more expensive recipes for some spawn eggs in regrowth, I kinda hope that maybe someone has an idea how to fix that.
How many other mobs are in the same chunk? This server has a lowered limit. It has been awhile since i played so i am not familiar with the exacts.
if i remember right its X numbers of non hostile mobs in a 3x3 and a x number of hostiles in a 3x3 if i remember right i believe it was 50 nonhostile?
It's about 7-10 hostile in a 3x3 chunk, but in regrowth I believe it has been lowered... I think it MAY be 5 hostile and 15-20 non hostile.
In the situation which happened to me now it was, in a 3x3 chunk area: 4 Chicken, 2 Cows and a blue slime that I put a name-tag on (so it doesn't despawn). It worked since yesterday without any despawn. Then suddenly the blue slime despawned, despite being name-tagged. [edit] And as far as I remember, back in the 0.7.4 server I had 2 Cows, 5 chicken and 5 or 6 sheep when the cows and chicken began to randomly disappear. So really not sure if this limit got me, or if there is any other bug that causes random despawns, regardless of the limit.
Did the others despawn? If so it could have been a staff member clearing entities.. But even so I think a staff member will be with you shortly
No, only the blue slime. Maybe it's just that name-tags don't stop despawn in the mym-server? And I guess that Squids count to the non-hostile mobs? Just remembered, that my base in the last version was in an ocean, if alot of squids had spawned below my island, that would explain why my animals despawned. Didn't think about this possibility till right now.
That is a huge part in the puzzle, if the squids reached the mob limit then it would have pushed the limit when more mobs spawned
Think i will be putting my farms in a dimension thats not loaded unless im there...lol The spawn cap is one of those things i both love and hate. I love that it helps reduce lag. I hate how it changes gameplay.
Ugh... I could scream. It seems the blue slime was bugged into the "invisible mob"-bug... very heavily bugged in it (didn't even had it's sound anymore). After logging back in right now and porting to another player and back home, the blue slime I name-tagged suddenly is back. No idea what happened there, just 10 minutes ago it still was gone and suddenly it's back. Weird bugs concerning mobs in the server.
Code: # max amount of animals (passive mobs) I:maxAnimals=30 # max amount of mobs (hostile mobs) I:maxMobs=20
So, if I am reading this correctly, Regrowth has a 50 animal cap including mobs in a chunk or a 3x3? Please clarify for further breeding.
Whats the total combined? Like if you have 30 animals and 20 hostiles. Does that mean 50 totals per 3x3 chunks. If so i really wish Regrowth had magnum torches...lol
Thank you, Slind, for clearing this up. Guess I have to make sure inside my 3x3 chunk only that I want to spawn, does spawn And protecting a 3x3 chunk of any unwanted spawns is not 'that' difficult. Just a bit of work. (on the ocean: alooot of work x.x) Guess I will put this as solved. Guess it wasn't really a bug (besides the "Slime goes invisible again"-bug, for which I made another thread already) but just not cleared how these limits work, which is cleared up now.
