Didin't know where to post this, so I decided on the offtopic forum to be safe...

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions for materials used in a Direwolf20/Thaumcraft building. I can design a mediocre house, but I can't decide on materials, or rather, what would look good on a Thaumaturge's house....

It really depends on what type of magic theme you are going for, me and my friend went for a mystical castle look in a magical forest. I remember seeing someone else's thaumcraft stuff inside a "forest" type of build.

I meant more along the lines of building materials. Wood? A special type of stone? Things like that.

Have you tried chiseled void stone for some areas? I used stone bricks for most of my thaumcraft aswell.

I'll have a look at it. I sure wish there was a block with the same visual effect as the End Portal/TC Obelisk/Tesseract, I'd make a whole room just with that....

I know, right? If I had any experience making ods I'd make a block, but since I have NO idea about mod creation, we'll have to wait for another modder to get off their a** and create one of the most badass blocks in MC history...

Hmm, for my thaumcraft area that I have on the Direwolf20 server I used burned quartz (all of its variants), nether brick, great wood logs. For the floor it was great wood and silver wood planks. (Use of carpenter blocks went a long way into the build as well!!) I think all those have a nice combination and feel for what Thaumcraft looks like as a mod in general. Any darker blocks or ones that can be pulled off with purple perhaps might help. But then, this also means you'll have to think about how to use and not over use blocks depending on what type of building you're doing.

No clue if this is any help but thought I'd pitch in something small ;)

It depends though. Most castles are made with mostly 1 stype of material. (mostly stone) It's quite nice to see a dirt themed castle. :)
