    Good evening!

The configuration of the protection plugin on the Vanilla+ server is set so that claims cannot be within 20 blocks of another claim. Unfortunately, that is causing us endless problems within our player created city in that players are unable to fully claim their lots within the city. I realize that a single player could theoretically claim the entire city and assign other players lots, but the size of the city prohibits a single player from claiming the entire place.

We are requesting that the configuration be changed to 5 blocks so that our city, now the most active area of the server, can work to its full potential and offer players the best experience possible.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Unfortunately we can't do that. Claims are wiped after 14 days of inactivity of the owner. The wipe happens chunk wise, that means everything within the chunk gets wiped even if only one block of the chunk belongs to the claim. Hence we need to prevent the creation of multiple claims within the same chunk.

Edit: the range should only be same chunk, not 20 blocks.

I had been told that the distance between claims was 20 blocks. I did not realize that it was based on chunks. That will make planning much easier in town as we expand. We will simply create lots around chunks.

The Vanilla+ server has been online for a relatively long period of time. Because it is a light modpack, we have a very high turnover rate of players as they quickly grow bored with the limited number of mods available. Since the server went online, hundreds of players have passed through. Unfortunately, the majority of them left their mark on the landscape in the form of small, half built, abandoned claims. There are so many that new players have begun complaining about not being able to find a suitable place to settle. I realize that claims can be wiped after 14 days of activity, but at this point, with as many abandoned claims as exist, the chore of removing them would be enormous.

The few active players that we do have expressed their feeling of abandonment from the network owners/admin. Our forum broadcast still advertises the Halloween event that was hosted on the server in October. The spawn is still decorated for the Halloween event and doesn't fit the theme of the modpack. We are visited by staff on rare occasions, although when we need help and create a ticket, we are helped in a timely manner. The city is the one thing on the server that has drawn players together into a community and has helped in the retention of good, active players. Our turnover rate is still high, but not as high as it was before the city was founded. We would like to expand on that sense of community and hold additional events to attract new active players who will become longterm members of our community and the server. We need the help of the staff to achieve this - firstly to change the broadcast and secondly to begin cleaning up the dozens of abandoned claims. I know we aren't the most glamorous modpack in the network and we have one of the smallest server populations, but we are still here and want to work with you to turn the server around. We invite you to visit the city and have a look around at what we have done, and we welcome you to join us and become active members of the community once more.

The claim and chunk deletion is not on older servers as we did not have the claim limit since the server got created.
As there are not many players on vanilla plus I could add it there but with the risk that a inactive claim removes stuff from an active claim too.

Which forum broadcast do you mean?

As you said, there are not many active players on the Vanilla+ server. I believe at this point, there are only three of us who have been server members longer than a month and stand to lose the most if such a case happened. Before making the decision, I would like to run a poll for the active members to weight their opinion on existing map clean-up versus complete map reset. In the meantime, we will continue living with the abandoned claims.

Every hour or so, a message broadcasts on the server announcing the start of the Halloween event that was held throughout October on the Vanilla+ server. I am the only active player on the server who has been on the server since the Halloween event was active - in fact, it was what led me to the Vanilla+ server in the beginning. Newer players see it as proof that the server is dead, leading some to abandon sooner than they normally would.

The issue with reset polls is that all stop playing until a decision got made.

Can you post a screenshot if you get a chance? I couldn't find a broadcast in the config.

I will keep an eye open for the message, although it only broadcasts once an hour, so if I miss it, I'll have to wait until the next time it broadcasts.

The reset poll should not take very long to conduct as there are very few active players - 20 or less at this point. The majority of those do not use the MyM launcher or have a forum account, so the poll will likely have to take place on the server rather than in the forum. Alternatively, with as few active players as we have and given the relative age of the server, perhaps a reset would be in order even without the community requesting it.

The last two days, I have kept my eye open for the broadcast and it has not appeared. Thank you to whoever removed it.

The small group of us highly active, regular, longtime players discussed the possibility of a map reset yesterday. The general consensus at this time is to ask for the automated 2 week inactivity wipe be implemented rather than a map reset. We are willing to take a chance that some active structures will be partially deleted along with the inactive claim. As we move forward, we will watch chunk borders more closely when claiming land.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Okay, I added it and it will be active with the next restart.

    Thank you very much, sir.

When it becomes active, will it immediately begin deleting inactive claims or will it wait another 2 weeks before beginning?

It will directly delete them after another restart
