Alright, I recently picked up a new GPU and it's clear in some games the CPU bottlenecks, and some people here seem tech savvy so I decided to ask around here. I'd like to upgrade my CPU to reduce bottlenecking and provide future compatability, but at the same time I'm not sticking with a stock CPU cooler.
Preferred is a CPU that supports z97 motherboards, but if you have alternatives that use a different socket then please point out a new motherboard and maybe new ram (if the board needs DDR4)
A new cpu cooler would also be nice, my ram sticks have quite high profiles and the case has clearance for 160mm coolers, was looking at the Hyper 212 evo (very common choice, trusted)
Bit more information: Mostly gaming, but I also do a bit of rendering videos in after effects/sony vegas, videos typically rendered in 1080p60fps, but I play games at 4k/1440p when I can't hit a stable 60fps. Case has good cable management and good airflow, but no room for a AIO liquid cooler radiator.
    Current Specs:
    OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit
    MB: MSI z97-G43
CPU: Intel i5 4690k (stock cooler, stock clocks)
    RAM: 16gb dual channel (2x8gb, 1600MHz)
GPU: GTX 980Ti (Zotac AMP! Extreme Edition)
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 850W (bit overkill but just incase I want to OC/run SLI)
    SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
I won't be making the upgrade immediately, but it would be good to know what I should be saving up for so I can create a target.
Proof of specs, since some people are very skeptical in some cases: (HDD 1 refers to the seagate barracuda)

2011 v3 socket is good because it will allow for 6 cores and as console now support up to 8 cores games support up to 8 cores but as 6 cores is perfect for gameing and ever video editing and the next version will support the same socket

Timleg, I specifically stated that I cannot fit an AIO liquid cpu cooler into my case. No room for the radiator.

I also asked if you chose a socket other than 1150 (z97) then please state also a motherboard and DDR4 ram modules. Was that too much to ask for?

Ideally keep the budget below £1000. I don't necessarily need a 2011/3 socket, but if you can find a good one and keep it all under that budget then that would be great.

Still no reason to get that motherboard. ROG is mostly overpriced. The only reason to get that is when he's trying to overclock the cpu (and not just a bit :p). If you don't do that then that €400 one is just as good as a €200 one. Anything he saves by not buying that board can be spend on better peripherals or games,...
In my opinion the only good board ROG made was the first hero one. :)
