As I just fixed the playtime visualization, I thought why not share all the data (since the beginning of tracking in early 2015) with you. PlayTime Performance/avg. Online Players New Players (to the Network with minimum playtime)
This somewhat makes me sad to see that Minecraft is somewhat dying again. Hopefully its just a phase and Minecraft doesn't become a dead game.
From what I see in this stats, there is actually more players this year than last year on MYM servers.
since they sold mc to microsoft, the updates have been quite... different, so to say. most of us dont like it, the other part of us is growing bored and leave the game and the new players, which barely exist, soon find new, better, more modern games. minecraft is becomming an old game, and tbh, it already is. and old fashion doesnt stay very long. but still, even tho mc lost 40% of its playerbase, i dont think it will "die" within the next 5 years. and i dont think youll still be playing it after 5 years either, even if you do think you will right now.
The biggest problem is see is that with every new major release they say "F*CK you moddevs!". If they would just stop breaking everything over and over again, moddevs would rejoice and modded mc would have a better chance to thrive. But those stats seem quite stable for mym
