So i have never used ars magica so i may just be something wrong. i tried to build a Light nexus as instructed in the quest book with the 8 blocks of quartz and 4 blocks of gold using the wizards chalk to make a 3x3 (hollow) of markings in the middle how ever nothing happens the chalk marks remain and don't change into the circles. (Don't have enough essence to make the book yet.)
Quest is not fully updated to the new version of Ars. You are meant to craft an obelisk now and link it with the crystal wrench to the machine it should power.
