What is the best way to install multiple versions of Minecraft simultaneously to work with modpacks? I was hoping for a better way than using something like Sandboxie or redefining %APPDATA% globally, which I would not want to do.

I've read about a Magic Launcher, but it looks like that can only be used if you're loading mods yourself rather than being used in conjunction with other launchers.

For packs, just launch another instance of your launcher. For vanilla and modded myself I personally use MultiMC

Does the launcher simply use its own defined Minecraft install location instead of messing with the Vanilla install location? If so... perhaps I should have tested that out first instead of wasting a thread. Thanks for the quick reply in either case. :)

Yes to the launcher, and no worries not the stupidest question on the forums by far. ;)
