Any chance that we can fix this performance issue? I know that there are still a lot of people not being able to play the pack.

I also know that @Slind and @SirWill wanted to keep the pack backwards compatible. A lot of packs change worldgen while they are in development and players still play them. (Marooned, Ferret Business, etc), so I personally think that if we can improve the performance here with the disadvantage of people having to restart, then so be it.
Also we are technically still in alpha, and I would like the pack to come out of alpha at some point.

My experience with worldgen stuff is not existing, so I need some input here.

The pack has improved a lot since the new team took over, but it feels still a bit unbalanced or lets say inhomogeneous in many aspects. I don't really want to go into the reasons for that here, but I think things can be improved there.

I have some ideas of improving the questbook and also crossmod interaction, but my motivation is very low if we cannot fix those basic performance issues. My laptop is pretty new, but it runs the pack with maybe max 45 FPS, i can run other big packs with 400 FPS if I set it to unlimited. A lot of people cant play the pack at all.

Then of course the whole "suck out oceans" thing doesnt help either, but that is part of the pack. And it is even laggy on a fresh world where oceans are still, well, oceans. :D

If you want to see how bad performance is, check out my base on Hypo. I havent got much automated at all, but have issues visually loading chunks that are more than 4 chunks further. @Werwolfi_de checked it out one day, but said it wasnt a server issue.

    Also tagging @johnfg10 @SirStudMuffin @knoxz @tyler489 for some input

Right now the pack feels a bit abandoned again. Now and then people come and fix minor things, but I would prefer to go back a step to the drawing board and recheck the basics, if you get what I mean. Just fixing one or two bugs or coming up with a new fancy Avaritia recipe doesn't improve the pack.

Or we call it abandoned and everyone moves on to the next big thing.

I believe the main issues are:
World Gen causing lag as its a custom profile
    Mob spawning issue (too low)
Way to make blood from power needs improving to stop pumping of rivers and ocean
    All other GitHub issues

Well as I discussed with John in slack, it seems the removal of Fastcraft due to some conflicts with Quadrum caused the biggest FPS drops. But the solution with the custom mod from i think icy was denied due to the downwards compatibility.

I am not really sure how much effect the blood pumping has at all.

It shouldnt be to bad as it doesnt have (as many) lighting updates associated with it

How is there still a issue here? You are posting this big wall of text in a support thread of someone else who does no longer have this issue. (Edit: Moved posts to own thread.)

I'm sure no one reported this issue to fastcraft or quadrum dev...

Worldgen doesn't affect client performance on a server.

I would prefer to profile whats doing the most fps damage first at the start of the game

Well I could have put the big wall of text somewhere else, doesnt change the fact.

Worldgen affects client performance, if we cant use Fastcraft because Quadrum has issues with Fastcraft.
Then again, Regrowth also doesn't use Fastcraft. but Quadrum, and performance is a lot better.

Honestly, I don't know where the performance problems come from, that is why I am asking. But I know that working on quests and balance and whatever is pointless if we can't figure out those basic things.

Probably best if you profile and create a proper benchmark. But be aware that profiling minecrafts rendering is a mastery in itself.
