Hello I created a ticket yesterday about my issue with chunkloaders shortly before the big break-out. I play on the Infinity 6 server and shortly before the break-out there were a glitch/bug which made me unable to use chunkloaders and i lost all my chunkloading tickets (it wasn't that many so no worries about them). I do however feel that the issue wasn't properly investigated and was told as a solution to the problem to remember to shift-click an iron/gold block. I do believe i made it clear in my message that I very well knew how to use the chunkloader. I was also told that only my tesseract needed chunkloading (which is quite helpful), however when I came back on after break-out yesterday the tesseract by my quarry was loading without a chunkloader. Here is the issue, they closed my ticket after the respond as a solution to my problem but the problem is not solved, I do not feel like making a new ticket for the same problem, waiting hours for a solution and closed ticket before a problem is actually solved. It seems i have an invisible chunkloader at my quarry, I do not dare to put down another chunkloader or buy new chunkloading tickets before this is solved, because you are unable to refund any tickets lost. Do I really have to create a new Ticket in order to get this problem solved, or am I just so stupid i don't understand the Ticket System? Kiah
Hi Kiah84, you can reopen the ticket by replying on it. A chunkloader at the quarry location is indeed not needed as the quarry loads its own chunk. So as long as the tesseract and the quarry are in the same chunk it isn't needed. (F9 enables a chunk grid view) In all the time since we have the chunk manager system running with thousands of users we have not received a report about missing tickets before. Are you familiar with how the system works? That every chunk loader is withdrawing the amount of upkeep it displays from your account every minute.
Hello I didn't know the thing about the quarry chunkloading, I was told the tesseract needed to be chunkloaded but I guess it doesn't in the way I set it up, so that explains why the quarry was working without a chunkloader thank you. Also thank you for explaining the Ticket System. As for the missing tickets, I lost 18-19000 tickets within a few minutes, I placed one chunkloader at my quarry with a 3x3 I then destroyed the chunkloader to place it at my home instead and this is where the bug started to happen. I didn't get any chunkloader menu when trying to shift-click the block I tried to re-place it a few times after, and a few minutes later all my tickets were gone and the menus started to pop up I disable them all and then I made the Ticket when i went back to the game I had been kicked because of the break-out yesterday and couldn't get on for about 3-4 hours. 3x3 chunkloading is 45 tickets pr minute or 2700 tickets pr hour so it would take 6-7 hours to actually eat up my tickets, I believe it is the chunkloader glitch/bug that increased my upkeep and ate my tickets, I do like to know what happened so it woun't happen again. Kiah
Did you notice the missing tickets before or after the outage? Usually I could lookup every single transaction, but as the database containing the transaction log grew to 25 GB which takes around 20 minutes x 8 servers to sync. I wiped the log for a faster recovery of the database system. First time we would have needed it, I wiped it for the first time. Such irony.
I noticed it before the outage and then made the ticket, so all of this happened just before the outage. Yeah I guess it is such irony, but as i said it was properly caused by that glitch/bug, which could have been caused by whatever took down the database, especially likely because it has never happened before. I will try to be more careful another time and report if it ever happens again. Thank you
It is unlikely to have been caused by the database outage if you noticed the missing tickets before the recovery. If it would have been afterwards it would be likely because we had a split brain situation, meaning the different databases were on a different state and when we brought them back together the state of a single one was used, resulting in the loss/rollback of all the other databases statuses. But the difference was only seconds. I hope the basic is understandable. Describing it fully would take me a page to write and diagrams.
I have a degree in Computer Science so do not worry. and I didn't say the outage itself was the cause, since as you stated it happened before the outage. This happened just before the the outage and the Infinity 6 Server actually had a slightly different issue than the rest of the Infinity Servers and it took about 2-3 hours longer for the server to get up, quite a coincidence right? might just have been a lucky punch.
I will and thank you again. Also I noticed that the roll back on the database might have given back my tickets, at least when i put down a chunkloader this evening they were back, could also be that the loss of the tickets were the glitch and that they weren't actually gone, we might never know. But if anything like this happens again i will let you know. Kiah
You are correct that could very well be the cause if there were no database connection it wouldn't be able to see my amount of tickets making it seem like i had none and since the time fits with the connection loss it is very likely.
