Creating a "War-Zone" on Project Ozone 2 (and other modpacks)

    Hello there everyone.
    I came up with the Idea to create a PvP based world|dimension for everyone who wants to battle each other.
    At the moment i would like to test that on the Project Ozone 2 Normal Mode server. Idea would be to enable /pvp like on (Attack of the B-Team) or creating a World|Dimension with PvP enabled. There you can get with a portal or maybe a command like /warzone or something like this. In this dimension would be a border about 500x500 around the spawn area which is "safe" = no pvp. on the ground would be a line and when you leave the spawnarea and enter the pvp zone you get a message like: "You entered the War-Zone!" or something this way. Than you can battle!
    There would be losing items beside of soulbounded armor|tools.
    In the safe-zone would be a little area where you can enchant and repair your items also some enderchests so you can access your backup items easy.

    If this is a good Idea, let me know in the Comments bellow.
    maybe I|we get enough arguments why it should get created.
    Would be nice!

    I don't really know about factions. It was just the first thing i thought would be needed to make it better. :)

    Enchanting and repair areas would potentially provide the ability to skip progression in PO2, by at the very least giving access to enchanting from the start.

    Yeah you're right. Didn't thought about that. So the player needs to make everything on his island and than take it with into the Fight... only thing would be the ender chest then.

    So basically a PvP zone? I haven't played through PO2 properly, but isn't there a long armour progression that could be skipped by killing somebody for their armour?

    Yeah basically just a PvP Zone.
    Mhhh atm i'm thinking of how to make the "rules" and stuff like that.
    But first it must be integrated so i can start working it out.
    With the Armour is a bit complicated. You just could use an armour which yo don't need
    and go into battle with it or you enchant it with Souldbound 1.
    Also if you can soulbound on all your stuff it would be lame because you would not lose anything.
    And another fact is that you can craft an armour which is unbreakable and also don't let you die.
    So i'm thinking of an Armour "rule" like : No souldbound and not higher than Zivicio Armour.
    But like i sayed it first need to be accepted.

    There's also the issue of lives, since PO2 is a HQM pack iirc.

    Hardcore Questing Mode, meaning you can have x amount of lives before it is game over your island in the case of po2 is wiped out.

    From a staff point of view this seems like it would be a nightmare to police. Allegations of cheating, and gear stealing.. it gives me a headache to think about it. The only way to really implement PvP well is to throw to an entire server, such as when we had NERO and our Anarchy server, but what sounds great on paper a server where PvP is allowed quickly turns players away as ultimately someone has to lose a battle and their items.

    mhhh. Maybe turn on for the PvP-Z0ne /gamerule keepinventory true ? so you can't lose stuff. Otherwise than noone would play pvp because you don't get anything. Maybe just make the /pvp work so when two player does have it turned on they can fight .

    Personally I am of the oppinion that pvp in modded Minecraft does not work well. If it were to work you would need to heavily regulate it.
    First off if there is an option to loot those you kill, there would be far too much progression skipping.
    Second a pvp area in which you loose items would inevitably create a wave of people creating tickets reporting people for cheating in pvp, asking for their stuff back, and generally distracting from more important things that the mods could spend their time on.
    Finally last and most obvious, let’s say I’m on ozone and I decide to go do some pvp with my friends, we go out with our enchanted diamond armor, and then we all get promptly one shot by some guy with an infinity sword who is running around ruining the fun for everybody just because they are further in the pack. And nobody else can do anything about it.
    Of course there would be ways to try and balance it, but in my oppinion modpacks are too focused on having an overpowered endgame for it to be fair.

    Sounds fun! Though I can see the problems (from a staff standpoint) with us being a non PVP server and all. If it doesn't work out, then maybe at least a mini game with these ideas would still be fun?

    I agree. For PvP, the modpack has to be PvP oriented.

    Everyone wants a PvP oriented pack, until they don't. As I said before we had two PvP oriented servers in recent history and both are now gone, our Anarchy server where you could feel free to kill, loot, steal from anyone anywhere at anytime, and our NERO offerings with PvP enabled and if it wasn't in the limited claim area it was up for grabs. Anarchy was white hot for awhile when it was opened with people asking to be added to the white list for it, though after a few weeks it became apparent that losing was hard and players who joined and were slain by players or mobs before they could dig in quit and never rejoined. Personally I enjoyed it as I came from a series of servers that were openly PvP oriented where it was hide or die. Then came NERO our MyM spin on the Nervermine I think it was called pack, it enjoyed some success with an English and two German oriented nodes, but they too petered out as players became more powerful.

    So a war zone, that exists in Agrarian Skies the nether is raid friendly, but short of that I don't see it as viable, it would have to be an all or nothing proposition.

    And don’t forget civilizations, actually I only left that because the ars magica update broke my computer so I couldn’t run it anymore ;)
    And all this time I never even knew Nero was a pvp pack, even while I was playing it :p

    Anarchy was vanilla so I'm not sure if that counts.
