With how much time the farmworld is up and how rarely it is reset. I believe it would be beneficial on most servers to increase the size. With the current size it is difficult to find fresh surface dungeons.
Ok firstly. It's the same size as the over world, something like 6400 blocks across... Maybe. Secondly, the farmworld is reset at the end of each month, pretty often if you ask me. Farm world kinda needs to NOT be superflat, why? It's a FARM world. It's main purpose is to farm resources. Lastly the reason its so "small" as you say, is to avoid any un nessecary TPS drops.
Within a span of 3 hours I completely explored the farmworld. Like you said super flat defeats the purpose, and it has a diameter of 5,000. It is a circle. I believe a 1,000 block increase would not too throughly affect tps, and an increase in size would mean more surface dungeons, which depending on the mod, are by far the most important and rare.
You say this and you have yet to point out to me why? The sacrifice of 2-3 TPS, For a few more resources isn't worth it tbh. Considering that one can wait a month (a few days depending) for it to reset. If you need/want more resources, I'd suggest finding another way or even simpler making another thread suggesting to lower the amount of time betwixt resets of the farmworlds.
A 1,000 block increase wouldn't eat 2-3 tps. It would eat .1 or even none. I say this because there are bases that eat 3 tps. Loading a few chunks won't have the same affect. Especially since I loaded half the dimension with no recourse.
Firstly, I'm going to ask you to stop +quoting me as its unessacry, I already recieve notifications when someone replies here. Secondly, worlds are pregened when it comes to servers (MyM servers anyway). Thirdly, I was referring to people using quarries in the area, adding another 1000blocks could kill the server once people gain access to quarries. Lastly, until players learn (not all of them) how to properly setup quarries and stuff when it comes to the farmworld. TPS will drop.
A 1000 radius increase isnt exactly a few chunks, its a lot of chunks. Also the world border is square not circle. Noah is right aswell, why do we need to make the farmworld bigger when it gets reset every month, and you so far seem to be the only one that think it needs a quicker reset time. Everybody else so far has managed to not clear the farmworld before it gets reset
yeah, i think the reset times are JUST enough to bother plopping down a quarry or two, untill it gets reset ofc, what bugs me here however is the fact you want to make it bigger, i dont see why, theres enough for everyone as long as no one is greedy
Not even that: but I run resource hungry bases (I'm known for this) and when i was playing servers like DW20, there was a point (after hte auto-resets) where i litterally sat on my resources, and made infinite-auto farms for the important ones (gold, iron, copper, tin, oreberry bushes OP) you don't need to mine that much due to the ability to easily get the important resources, and if you're talking draconium, there's a thing called the end comets
yeah, ive seen some of his bases, i believe his power source one time was SOO server heavy and op, they just gave him a creative energy cell .-.
that was on monster, that was because the power source was so resource heavy and OP they made a policy saying that if you made one that worked you were given a cell, and yhea, monster isn't a good example, but DW20 is prob the best, as after the Farmworld reset the place where i ever needed resources was to go to the bedrock dimension and mine the whole place out, getting so many resources to sit on constantly
no, just use the awakened pick you require to have to get in, and you can mine out the place in hours, i can't see where the guy who posted this suggestion is coming from due to these many ways of getting the resources he needs
well we're not sure what server he's on, the poor fool may not have thaumcraft, imagine that, the horror...
If the farmworld is exhausted of resources, request a reset of it. There is no need for the world to be larger.
ahh, I see this being an issue, especially with thaumcraft. But it shouldn't block any progression as far as I'm aware. If it does I would prefer looking into other means of achieving the access. Bigger farmworlds would mean bigger backups. We try to keep those backups small. As one week of backups is about 4TB of data.
