Is there a site or sticky somewhere that explains how your server runs? Through the chat feed I was able to find info on claims (not specifically, but that general YouTube video that explains the plugin) and voting, but there are at least a couple things I'd like to keep track of that I have no idea where to find them (for instance, what are MyMs, what do I do with them, and is there somewhere I can see my account credit, time on server, number of claim blocks available, etc.). So far, every thread I've searched for and found seems to be dealing with tickets, and not the general server info I seek. Any direction would be appreciated!
MYM are in game currency used on the in game market ( /market listings ) /money will show you balance and /money <player name here> shows their balance /money top shows the top balances /ontime will show your current and accrued playtimes Hold a golden shovel to see your current claim block status Enjoy!
If you need any help with anything, you can always look for me in game! Remember that[DOUBLEPOST=1407775509,1407757572][/DOUBLEPOST]Wiki Index | MineYourMind Community - In advance to pauls reply.
This, especially. Thank you for this response, it was the first bit of information that I couldn't get anywhere else. I kind of had an idea what MyMs were (as they are a reward for voting, after all), but it was nice to be able to see how many I had. I think what I didn't realize was that the bulk of the information is found through in-server commands. /market is another one of them (and it took me a week to figure out there were market NPCs at the spawn heh). I did try finding general information through the wiki and to forums, but those sources seem saturated with problem solving (and just plain problems) related to connections, software, etc. - luckily (and oddly) - none of which I've had yet to deal with. I guess I was thinking that somewhere there might be a sort of FAQ geared towards server newbs like myself, with things like I've mentioned, specific to the way this server is run. Maybe also an abbreviated keymap related to more common plugins and mods (like Map, Morph, Hats, Graves, etc.) that are very poorly covered on YouTube or anywhere else. Somebody like me, coming from vanilla MC who didn't have the inspiration (or children) to figure these simple things out might very quickly get overwhelmed and confused enough to flee and never return. Ben, I've seen you online! Don't be offended that I don't throw all these questions at you. It's not only that I sympathize with some of the juvenile spats I've seen you have to referee, but also that a lot of time I don't know what question I want to ask, as everything was so new, I had no basis for information, so I really didn't know enough about anything to specify an inquiry. Thank you though, know that I will flag you down if I ever find it necessary (like when those knobs were griefing my little kids, trying to knock them into a ravine using wasp morph)! I've had a job similar to yours before (in-game CS guide for Sony/Verant), and I admire your patience and perseverance.
heh, I don't mind honestly, just remember that I'm never busy enough to answer a few messages, just don't hesitate at all, and with all honestly, I can always find a few spots in the "busy" schedule to sit there and answer your long lost questions of course. Just a note, the only time I harldy reply is when I'm dealing with a Modreq, or writing a report, so feel free to send a message in the space of 5 minutes each message
we give a list with all commands via ./help A FAQ page about gameplay aspects hasn't been asked for yet. Most players ask the community (if they have a general question) which is one of the best and fastest ways. I never thought that our system is complex which is why I never saw and still don't see a big need for it. :/
Well, I'm a shy recluse with social anxiety disorder. heh. This usually keeps me from asking any community that I'm unfamiliar with anything. All kidding aside, TBH, because I consider myself at least of average intelligence, I'll take the time (sometimes a lot of it) to try and figure something out for myself. I usually don't forget the answer then either, because I've worked for it. /help does work, though it's limited. As I've experienced it, it gives general categories, but didn't tell me what key sequences showed (or cycled through) the map. /help doesn't tell how the morph mod works and what keys show the morph choices (as I learned via YouTube they are [, and ]), or how to favorite them. I did find the solution though, and I will share it when others ask. But that's the little things that I'm talking about. /help doesn't show the options like Decnav did up there with /money and /ontime, and those are commands that I still would not know if I hadn't read them in this post. /help still doesn't show me how to get my Hats interface back (where did it go anyway?!?), even though I made sure the keymapping is still set to "H", though I'm sure I'll figure it out soon. Gah. Don't misunderstand, I'm not complaining. I'm also not saying the server itself is complex, and to be fair, I'd probably learn more, and learn faster if I logged on IRC or TS, but I generally avoid those to protect my own sanity. We still appreciate the work you do, and we'll still be voting daily, and maybe if I get some time I'll even draft up a FAQ of my own. In the meantime, you're right in that community is best way to answer questions, and I appreciate this thread to at least have gotten that. So anyway, thanks. I realize this server is a ton of work, and especially given the cost of participation, it's run damn well. It beats Xbox Live by a long shot!
I very much appreciate that you are looking for a solution before you ask, but unfortunately isn't this the average way of looking for a solution of our community. (at least from what I experienced) In priority order the servers uptime, performance and player support comes before any new features and the features and bugfixing list is long, very long. As long as there are no players/staff members that want to create a good setup FAQ. this is nothing that will happen in the near future. I really appreciate your suggestion and the description telling us exactly why but atm I don't see its importance that high to run in front of the other todo elements. I'm also a character that says either you do it with all your heart and perfect on its level or you just leave it. The mods have good documentations outside of our community, as there are very active wikis and we couldn't even get close to their completeness even if we would focus on it. The wiki linked on the forums can be edited from everyone with a working forum account, so if anyone would be interested: feel free and create some content about the servers and modpacks. But design it clear, easy and useful.
