There seems to be mixed ideas and feelings about this. I want the players to decide what they want on Civilization. Please leave comments below.
I would say yes since it is a PvP server and you should get rewards for making the effort of getting weapons/armor
Would there be a way to set up a system where instead of leaving a grave, your items go to a 'Lost and Found' 'Vendor' whom you can pay say, 30 Myms to recover your items? (Use a backpack or something to put them in so there isn't the possibility of too many items causing items to be deleted But if you didn't claim it within say, 24 hours, it would be spawned at your death-point, free-for-all, or something, or just given to the killer idk.
i am all for if you kill the player, it gives pvp some incentive. as it stand most people on the serrver would give the items back anyway.
I'm afraid of an incumbency problem. With minecraft, people gain objective power over time in fighting, and if someone at the end of the game wanted to, they could simply kill everyone over and over, never allowing people to progress. You could end up with a server with a few "Whales" and a bunch of new players whose lives are miserable.
i say yes!, graves should be free to loot period! there is no real downfall on death atm, this way people will become more cautious because there's always a chance their grave is gone when they return. just don't die or take the risk!
I think my system (maybe with some tweaking) would provide a good penalty to death without causing a huge amount of unbalance to new players etc. My biggest qualm to grave-robbing is that it takes a good amount of resources to get power armor or other means of defending yourself, and until you can soulbind it, anyone who's futher ahead can kill you with almost no problem. PvP in Minecraft just simply doesn't seem skill-based enough to justify a system like this. Many other PvP games, if you have inferior gear, you can supplement that with good skill. Not so much in Minecraft.
could make the person drop one item at random for the killer and the rest goes into a grave that they can pick up
In my opinion, PvP is something that when a player is killed, their held items should go as loot to the killer should they desire. If the killer wants to give it back or give it to someone else, that's up to them as it's now their items. My only problem is with this you will always have people in chat complaining 'cause they lost their items, and people will likely put in more tickets due to a player not willing to give items back to the slain.
Lootable graves will open a lot more of opportunities to the PVP system. In my case, whenever I kill someone i leave the grave right there, because i dont want any items I just want to hunt down people. At max I will break the grave and take the skull and place all remaining items back in a chest or something. But imagine if people dont do thing like I do... Those will be hunted down by people who really want to hunt down people and get a reward out of it. It will create an "honor" system (maybe an bukkit addon?). For my point of view, things will be a lot more fun. If you dont want to loose something, don prance around overworld packed full of your stuff.
but do we really want this to be a sever where people are scared to leave there house because people want your stuff i know thats not what i want
Kill the person, THEN you can loot their grave But if you find a grave while running around exploring, no. They didn't die to you, why should you take their stuff?
The problem with Soul Bound is it takes a good while to get to the point where you can put that on several items (Unless I'm mistaken)
there are "work" arounds. but yes it is mid game. Ender IO enchanter, then copy the book. Not really hard to make.
