So, I have been thinking about hunger mechanics in Minecraft and was wondering what your opinion is on that.

    1. Do you think hunger is just annoying or do you think it adds a interesting gameplay element?
    2. Do you think Pams is an awesome mod which gives a lot of different things to do or just a bunch of stuff that doesn't really give any value to the game?
    3. Do you think that mods like hunger overhaul and spice of life give you interesting mechanics and give food mods like Pams any right to exist in the first place?
    4. What other food mods do you find good, which are underrepresented in modpacks?
    5. What features do you think are missing in the whole hunger mechanics?
    6. Do you think I ask too many questions? :D
    7. What questions did I forget to ask?

    Sometimes
    Awesome mod
Sort of, can be annoying at stages
    growthcraft
not alot really if it shows what it gives you, how it works, and why it works, its all good
    Yes
    Which do you prefer ;)

  3. Hunger is fun in a modpack like civ, where there is not much to do. But it is more of an annoyance on modpacks like infinity, as it is time consuming and irritating to remember to feed yourself when building some crazy lag machine.

That is exactly the problem I have with food mods like Pams. If you dont have a reason to explore it, why use it in the first place? At least Infinity encourages the usage of Culinary Generators which give you some kind of motivation. There are not many different things to do in those mods, it is all pretty much the same. Crafting one high tier food is the same interesting as crafting another high tier. So it feels repetitive. SoL at least gives me a reason to do that.
Ok if you are some kind of food enthusiast (and I guess the mod author probably fits that description), then growing 50-ish different crops is nice.

I should have added Agricraft in the poll, it also makes cropbased mods a bit more interesting, since you can't always get everything directly just from bonemealing the crap out of grassblocks.

Personally I think hunger overhaul is too annoying to deal with, and pams is kinda OP (full saturation toast anyone?) especially when mixed with a mod that lets you make a bread for each wheat.
I much prefer mods that add a thirst meter to deal with, not as hard as hunger overhaul but still something that needs dealing with.

It is interesting element in packs like Crash landing at the beginning, then it is just annoyance. In other packs it is just annoyance.
Without Hunger overhaul/Spice of life, it doesn't give anything valuable to the game.
    Yes.
    None.
Auto-feed with storage that doesn't take inventory space and isn't lost on death.
    No.
    No idea currently.
