This is possible. You won't lose your tier and you won't either lose your timeranks normally. Once you change your name you have to update it on the forum (click on the gear and then update username.) and then most of the stuff should be transfered. If your island is then inaccessible for you then you can always create a ticket and will be able to transfer the island and the ownership to your new name but it should not be to much of a problem either. Feel free to change it.
