I had a far base, with a Shell storage & Shell constructor set up and filled with my bodies. I was chased by a zombie and fell off my wall and died. I then glitched in the game directly after dying and relogged when i came back had a you have died message and lost the entire base. there are a few people who have seen my base and can verify taht i had the extra shells.
My guess is that if you crash immediately between dying and respawning in a sync clone then when you log back in it doesn't trigger the sync respawn causing you to actually be dead even if you have a clone available.. Kinda like the issue with the charm of keeping from twilight forest, if you die and click exit to menu instead of immediately respawning then when you log back in your inventory has already been flushed so it completely ignores the fact that it was supposed to let you keep your inventory. Guessing it's a limitation with the way sync is coded, or more specifically with how minecraft itself is coded so I doubt there is much we can do about it.
