Checking Watchdog, I seem to notice that we have a lot of restarts on BTP compared to other modpacks. I am wondering if an @Administrator or @Founder could get me the logs so I can look thru them to find the cause? I understand that this is an odd request, but I would like to make this pack a bit more stable and not have as many restarts. I've seen it get as bad as 10 in the S6 on multiple nights a week.

It seems to be some error with MFR, I can't say a lot more from the logs unfortunately. It is caused by some CoFH ASM hook code, so I can't really say what's going on there (and unfortunately, the ASM hook screws the crash-report).[DOUBLEPOST=1417433648,1417433312][/DOUBLEPOST]I took a short loook through the log archive, and it seems that the crash isn't tied to a specific player either. It happens directly after a player join, but it's a bunch of different players, and sometimes they can oin just fine.

I'm going to report this to MFR, let's see what they say about this...[DOUBLEPOST=1417434515][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, someone already found it: NullPointerException logging in to remote server · Issue #297 · skyboy/MineFactoryReloaded · GitHub

strange thing, it keeps going down for one hour now... after "server stopped" message it looks like it goes back after 2 minutes, status is green, there is 0/20 ppl stated, and it doesnt change at all even for 20 minutes - when i join while this strange green 0/20, i always get splash peek into world, and instantly screen server closed

Yeah, it's still the same crash unfortunately. There is no fix yet, but I might be able to create a small patch for it.[DOUBLEPOST=1417453168,1417451313][/DOUBLEPOST]Ok, I wrote a patch, and it seems to work. This crash will definetely NOT occur any more. It might have side effects though, so let's see what's happening...

The frequent crashes happen since the 27th:
    http://i.imgur.com/Afm3OxP.png
The bug has been there since the last update (at least the first similar crash-report is from the 16th, around the time of the last update)
Xfel did try to patch the issue which only caused other issues.
While there is a new version of minefactoryreloaded there is no update for the pack and the issue tracker shows that this version might even be more of a headache. We are currently still looking to find a solution that does not involve removing the whole mod (not sure if even possible) or big parts of it (which might not even solve the issue).
Unfortunately due to cofh patches the crash reports are corrupted (might only happen with cauldron) which makes tracking down the other half of the issue a nightmare.

    @Slind14 & @Xfel11....
    • Xfell, thank you for trying to fix it, I am sad it didn't work. But I know you did your best and that is more then most. :)
    • Slind, your right, I think everybody playing would prefer not to have that mod removed, or amputated to the point where it is useless. saying that, I think we would all rather play then not play.
Since the COFH crash reports are seeming to be corrupted because of cauldron.... I am suggesting a temporary fix and/or a way to get more info about the bug...
    1. Backup server. (in case this doesn't work)
    2. Remove all bukkit plugins
    3. Remove cauldron
    4. Install modpack in a pure forge environment.
    5. Replace Bukkit plugins, as we can, with forge equivalents
    6. Test server.
Just an idea. I know certain plugins in particular would become unavailable, but I am willing to work around that particular limit, and I have another player with whom I can have help with the moderating who has experience moderating in a non-cauldron, non-bukkit, environment. Hopefully this could not only help Xfell with trying to solve the issue with a patch, but slind it could also serve as a test bed for forge server plugins for MYM?

This won't help. The "corruption" of the crash reports only adds a totally unrelated tile entity info, on a forge server that part is just missing

im actually surprised Bevo tech pack is staying. I know it was a beta and test pack to get 1.7.10 going but what does this pack have to offer that others dont?
With TDT coming and Modsauce/ DW20 already up..... whats the point of keeping this pack? IT seems to be more of a headache then anything
All the other packs have the mods included in that pack and more

The reason im asking is Bevo tends to jump around on packs, He plays Beyond Reality and now Wanderlust. Im not sure how focused on this pack he will be.

There are multiple big building projects going on on the server, so a lot of people would be quite angry if we removed it (including myself). And no, these modpacks you mentioned definetely DO NOT have all the mods bevo has. (Just look for OpenComputers for example^^)

.... I wish I could "dislike". lol, jk.

I personally only am playing on the BTP. I love the variety of the mods. Does it have all the mods that the other packs have? No. Is it missing some of the newer / unknown / exciting mods? Yes. Why do I love it then?

Because I have a sucky computer. I can't run TPPI, or Modsauce, or any of the other "giant throw 150+ mods together and hope it works" modpacks. I have a hard time actually running DW20 or MyG. If it was not for BTP, I don't think that I would be able to play any 1.7+ modpacks as it is. Also, it is a nicely paced modpack. And if you look at the issues for this pack vs. the bigger packs, BTP is basically problem free. (except for the issue in this thread of course)

I understand where you are coming from. I love mod packs with all the mods. And when I get a better computer in February, you can be sure I will be playing them. But I for one have come to really like this pack and would be devastated if it left.

... Back on to topic now....

The other reason for suggesting running in an only forge environment was to rule out Cauldron as a cause of the crash. Maybe we could try the new bukkit replacement sponge? (let the flaming commence)

Sponge isn't even ready yet, it will only be available for MC 1.8. So that is not an option...

You need to try "The Dark Trilogy" yes it has 153 mods but it doesnt have Biomes o plenty. That mod alone causes massive lag.
I get the best performance on this pack, its why i like it so much. You should try it when it opens.
